Default Confused new user - missing ITV listings (UK)

Hi there - thought I'd try out Media Portal after months of frustration with windows MCE (crashes, corrupt guide data). Looks great so far, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the guide.

I clicked the "Grab EPG from DVB" checkbox when setting up, and most of the channels now seem to have guide data. No additional setup was necessary, as I recall. I didn't have to run WebEPG-conf.exe to get it working. However, ITV1, ITV2, and ITV3 do not have any guide data. Is there some additional manual setup I should do? I tried setting the guide for these these channels specifically using WebEPG-conf.exe, but they're still not working.

Regarding XMLTV - is it possible to get listings for some channels via XMLTV, and others through EPG? Or do I need to stick with one method for all channels? I just thought I could try XMLTV if I don't have any success getting the ITV listings though EPG.

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to get a full EPG, there is no setting that should alter this, it may take some time to fully populate (hour+).

Sometimes i have had no EPG being transmitted for a certain channel, that maybe the problem, see if it changes tomorrow, or is this already tomorrow from your point.

Yep, it seems to be OK now. I didn't realise I needed to allow a bit of time for it to fully populate. Thanks for your help!

Media Portal seems pretty good so far. I would say the plus points are:
-nice guide listing format
-ease of setup
-seems more stable than MCE
-program search facilities

Drawbacks are:
-slightly clunky menu scrolling
-occasional glitchy sound (is that just me?)
-can't seem to get program detail/description text the same way as you can in MCE

do not get that, check for latest sound card drivers and never change "default sound device" under audio renderer, maybe see if under general settings\enable GUI sound effects untick and see if any strange noise goes.

That can be down to how powerful CPU\Graphics are.

I think M$ actually pay for that information, that is why it can be more complete than DVB EPG or xmltv\WebEPG can be.
