Country: | Hi there - thought I'd try out Media Portal after months of frustration with windows MCE (crashes, corrupt guide data). Looks great so far, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the guide. I clicked the "Grab EPG from DVB" checkbox when setting up, and most of the channels now seem to have guide data. No additional setup was necessary, as I recall. I didn't have to run WebEPG-conf.exe to get it working. However, ITV1, ITV2, and ITV3 do not have any guide data. Is there some additional manual setup I should do? I tried setting the guide for these these channels specifically using WebEPG-conf.exe, but they're still not working. Regarding XMLTV - is it possible to get listings for some channels via XMLTV, and others through EPG? Or do I need to stick with one method for all channels? I just thought I could try XMLTV if I don't have any success getting the ITV listings though EPG. Thanks in advance! |

Country: | You should be able to get a full EPG, there is no setting that should alter this, it may take some time to fully populate (hour+). Sometimes i have had no EPG being transmitted for a certain channel, that maybe the problem, see if it changes tomorrow, or is this already tomorrow from your point.

Country: | Yep, it seems to be OK now. I didn't realise I needed to allow a bit of time for it to fully populate. Thanks for your help! Media Portal seems pretty good so far. I would say the plus points are: -nice guide listing format -ease of setup -seems more stable than MCE -program search facilities Drawbacks are: -slightly clunky menu scrolling -occasional glitchy sound (is that just me?) -can't seem to get program detail/description text the same way as you can in MCE |
