Default EPG Downloader Service for TV Server ONLY

This is a little program for downloading EPG data for TV Server, and loading it directly into the TvLibrary database for TV Server.

Features:
  • Operates as a service with the ability to schedule daily downloads.
  • It allows you to download from multiple sources
  • Map multiple MediaPortal channels to the same channel ID in the xml data.
  • Loads directly to database, no intermediate steps with xmltv files etc.
  • Fill gaps in incomplete channel listings from other channel data (yes, this does happen in Australia! When the HD channels only have data for the few programs that are different from the SD channel, you need to merge the HD and SD listings to fill the gaps in the HD listing...)
  • Handles zipped data
  • Basic authentication for sites that have user ID and password
If you want to give it a try, you can find it at...

Regards
Kev

Hi Kev,

Great work as usual.

3 things though:

1. Local xmltv.xml file support
2. If the import fails (dns problems or typo in the url), the downloaded file is locked and cannot be overwritten. I had to kill the program, delete the files, and try again.
3. On uninstall (yes I went back to the old gui...), the service isn't stopped and unregistered before the uninstall process which leads to a "some files could not be removed, you can do this manually" error.

Thanks for your work but why do we need another epg importer?
Isn't WebEPG working in this cases?

Alternatives is always good... and it looks like it got some features that WebEPG doesn't have?

Now added - see the "Is File" option URLs.
Enter the file address as the URL and select the Is File checkbox

Made some changes to try and make the error handling more robust

I will look into this - I was just concentrating on getting the installation right!

Hi Kev,

I tried the new version and the local file now loads but it only loads one channel into the grid?

The error handling changes you made seem to have worked.

Cheers,

Jim

fixed New Version 0.0.0.03

Some fixes for local files.

You can also combine "Zipped" and "Is File" flags if your local file is zipped.

Hi Kev, I upgraded to the new version just now, and followed the instructions till the end, but keep getting an error in the log:

Download Started 12/12/2007 2:07:11 PM
12/12/2007 2:07:12 PM - EPG Download Failed!: Error=EAccessViolation

I'm using http://minnie.tuhs.org/tivo-bin/xmlguide.pl as an xml data source.

Thank you for your efforts,
