I've just had a play around with this and realised I'm being stupid!

I just renamed the xmltv.xml file produced by mc2xml to tvguide.xml and then used the xmltv tv server plugin to import the file, job done!

Oh well, guess I won't be using MPEpg after all, but otherwise a useful app

Bagal.

Apologies for asking a noob question but I am still new MP and can get very confused with names and terminologies.
IN this case I am not sure what you mean when you refer to "TV server only".
I have installed MP RC2 on Win Xp. I have installed Media portal and TV server on the same machine I guess its called single seat installation.

The first post about this applications mentions that this is only for TV servers. What I am not clear about is if you mean single seat installations with TV server (not the built-in TV option) or is this application only for machine that are run as TV servers with MP running on a different machine.

I would appreciate if some can clarify that. I have played around wit the WebEPG and its not working for me so need to know if I can use this app.

As it is now MediaPortal is split in to 2 parts, the front end client aka MediaPortal and the back end tv recording part aka the TV server, prior to this the front end client also had its own tv recording part, hence there was some form of epg grabbing involved in the client.

So in this context, when it says TV server only, it means that you can only use this app with the back end tv recording part, the TV Server, it doesn't matter whether this is single seat or on separate machines.

I just installed this and set it up with tv.swedb.se and it works like a charm. Thanks.

A few channels missing at swedb but that is not this fine applications fault.

Hey Bagal,
When I run mc2xml with my post code, I get around 26 different options. Any idea which I should choose for Mt DVB-S card.
Most of the channels I get are from Astra.

I know its a bit vague but I am a complete noob so dont know a lot of details.

Hi chursy,

I'm using mc2xml with Sky, so I just chose the sky option, if I remember correctly though there was an astra option (at least for me anyway), your best bet is just to try one and see if it has everything you need, if not, just delete the mc2xml.dat file and start again until you get one that covers all your channels.

Thanks Bagal ,
I managed to download the file and renamed it to tvguide.xml
However when I try to import the file using XMLTV it give an error that it cannot find the file.
On first attempt I copied the file in the folder highlighted in the default path c:\programfile/teammediaportal/mediaportalTVserver etctec but got an error that the file does not exist.
Then I copied the same tvguide.xml file to the root of C and changed the path in XMLTV settings however I got exactly the same error that the file is not sound. Any idea on what I am doing wrong.

Hello all,

I read all 13 pages of this thread and haven't seen anyone ask this question, will this work for TV listings in the US? Thanks.
