Default FYI - Radio Times XMLTV is broken

Hi all

Just to let you know that the Radio Times XMLTV site is currently broken.

Looking at the site the WebEPG grabber uses it seems to have started developing problems around 29/11/2007 but has completely failed to update since 19/12/2007.

The staff at Radio Times are investigating the problem as per the following link:

Thanks Mew,
Been having problems myself for well over a week! Resorted to 'over the air' grabbing just to get an EPG running.

As things with RT feed have not improved and 2008 is nearly upon us I looked at an alternative, as I have Vista Ultimate I had a look at MceEpg2XmlTV.

After some some messing about I have managed to get this work, full Sky EPG for the next 14 days, better than the RT feed!

I can only say this works if you have Vista Ulitmate, use TVServer (recent SVN with xmltv importer that allows mapping) and looking a UK Sky EPG, though easy enough to choose your location.

Will try and write up a quick how to if anyone is interested.

Just checked your specs and you are using XP, unless it's out of date - you need a Vista version with MCE include ( Home premium or Ulitmate editions) or Windows MCE 2005.

It also seems you have to get MCE running and downloading guide data natively at least once before you can use the MceEPG tools. This means you need a card that MCE can see, DVB-T or one of the Hauppauge PVR cards - trying to find a way round this, should just be some reg entries but not having much luck.

Will still knock a how-to together.

Hi Trevor, thanks for the heads up on the Vista setup, I didnt really want to goto vista, xp serving me very well indeed. If you get anywhere on the reg entries i'll be very interested in your findings, good work though. and cheers again.

Kev.
