Hi Guys,
I have to say that I hate the thought of the configuration being accessible within MP. I love being able to manage things outside in a nice little configuration tool. It also gives me peace of mind that when other people are using MP, they won't mess all the settings up. It also keeps the MP GUI nice and clean and free from hardly used "settings or configuration" options and buttons. I'm really disappointed that you are heading in the wrong direction with this one. KEEP MP GUI clutter free!! On the alpha I think lots of work needs to be done on the GUI and skin etc. Obviously that will come with time I guess. Its crashed on me within 30seconds of using it. Setting up folders for movies/pictures was awful. I know its alpha, but this is a horrible user experience thus far. I have been a HUGE fan of MP 1 even making donations, but on this evidence I'm bitterly disappointed with MP2! A real shame, Colin Last edited by sleepycol; 2007-12-18 at 15:24. |

Hi,
Personally I think it is a pain in the bum to have to quit mediaportal, configure it and then go back in. All settings options within the main program, accessible using the remote, is definitely progress. Mark |

But how often do you actually have to configure in comparison to using MP? Its hardly a chore. Configuring with a remote fills me with dread. Another reason not to have it inside MP. IMHO

MediaPortal 2 will be configureable in the same way as 0.2.3.0 is.
inside the main application and with an external configuration util. but the config util of MP2 will support localization ![]()

Well its good news it can still be done outside MP2, but won't all the "settings" options clutter the clean feel on MP2?
Using MP2 was horrendous just for setting up folders, never mind complicated stuff. Will there be an option to disable configuration within MP2, so that no "settings" can be seen/accessed inside MP2? |

That would be a good compromise, Nemulate. Keep ALL settings in a submenu. This is essential IMHO otherwise the clean feel of MP is lost.....
Would also be nice to be able to completely disable configuration within MP2, to protect settings and to maintain a clutter free GUI |

This kind of goes along with this thread.
I think I screwed up my MP2 install by making some config changes. It launched fine at first but when I made some changes and then relaunched MP2, I get the splashscreen but now I get a blue screen with nothing at all to select. How can I reset my config? |
