Country: | I think the configuration options inside MP should be similar to those that can be done in settop boxes (PVRs, DVD players for instance), which means settings that could mess up your configurations should not be inside the main application. These settings are decoder options and stuff like that. Basically everything that could stop your media/TV from being played if configured wrongly. Regards, Simon |

| Im with sleepycol on this, I see trying to manage configuration with remote and normal HTPC GUI a bit like trying to dig a grave with teaspoon; there are vastly superior tools for tasks like that. BTW, how do you manage to add folders with the alpha, it always hangs or crashes on me when trying to do that. Furthermore it doesn't list half of local drives much less any network drives. |

| Portal Member | My support is 100% behind the DEVS. big bold RED letters when you post in this forum: Keep in mind that MediaPortal 2 is an ALPHA version. I think i-loop, frodo and others can say/type that sentence while fast asleep. Thy MUST be getting tired of repeating it every few minutes. Please people - a lot of our community members want to be involved. By all means give constructive critism but something we get for free will NEVER be "a shame". We are not forced to use this. Even though I am strugeling with my MPII installation, I am still very excited about it. While my production 0.2.3 version is up and running, I am part of the next version. Even if it will be a long time before the production version is replaced. I am loving to be part of this. Can't wait for daily SVN's on MPII. Go DEVS - GREAT JOB.

Country: | One of the complaints we received from MP-1 is that to configuration was way to difficult Our goal for MP-II is simple: users install MP-II and immediatly can start using it. To achieve that we made some choices 1) ALL basic settings should be easy configurable from within MP-II Think of folders, codecs, fullscreen, skin,theme,language,... 2) settings for advanced users can be configured from an external application Think of views, viewmappings, menu editting,... Now we all know this 'external' configuration application doesnt exist yet, its work in progress and is planned for the next release called Haiti But when its done you can change all settings (basic & advanced) from the external config app Now for those people who dont want certain settings to be available from within MP-II The configuration application will allow you edit each menu. So you - can simply remove those menu entries to settings you dont want to be available from within MP-II - you can put those menu entries every where you like (home menu or in settings screen or...) I hope the devs took this the right way. This thread was meant to prompt discussion about it. Everyone's opinion is valid whether you agree with it or not. There is nothing wrong with being disappointed, I'm just being honest. MP1 set the standard very high and has a lot to live up to. The devs know that as well as anyone. Country: | Its going to be awesome! Please don't be discouraged by the relatively few negative people who doesn't understand what a preview is. Not that I think you will, but just want to say once again that I really appreciate your hard work and that I will pay for it ![]() and btw sleepy; its this part that isn't very constructive : Quote:

Country: | OK. Did everyone miss me being constructive: 1) I love being able to manage things outside in a nice little configuration tool. 2) It also gives me peace of mind that when other people are using MP, they won't mess all the settings up. 3) It also keeps the MP GUI nice and clean and free from hardly used "settings or configuration" options and buttons. 4)I'm really disappointed that you are heading in the wrong direction with this one. KEEP MP GUI clutter free!! Other posts have since stated that its all customisable anyway. So there is no issue with this now. I was just worried about the points I mentioned above IN MY ORIGINAL POST. |
