I'm far from a developer, but I've written a couple of plugins for MP1. The one thing that really stood out to me at first was the fact that the namespaces seem to make more sense and are more organized. Random things aren't stuck in Core anymore, and it seems to be easier to find a function that you might need (due to the better organization). I look forward to things being a little more final so I can port my old plugins over and really get a feel for things.

frodo speaking of fixed in svn, does that mean we will have an opportunity to test out svn releases of MP2, i can't wait to play around with it and test it out as i'm still saving for me new tv to use with MP2 at some stage, so i would be happy to test svns and try and find bugs and get them fixed up.
Thanks
hope there will be downloadable svns for MP2

I will wait to download MP II, but I am SO GLAD that you guys are doing this. I love MP I and use it all the time, and I know this is going to be great. It takes real nerve and vision to go stip down a great application and re-architect it to get it right - bravo and thanks.

Default Performance

Hi,

For me the GUI is also really slow. AMD 2800+, 1GB of RAM, ATI 9550 / something (DX9 compatible), WIN XP SP2 + all the latest upgrades. MP1 runs lightning fast on the same machine. Or it was fast, but after installing MP2, also MP1 got unusably slow (TV stuttered really much). Luckily I took Ghost-image from drive C before trying \O/. But I'll trust these guys will make it fast. Propably this is some compatibility issue with some configuration, because somebody said it's really fast. With my laptop it's also slow (laptop has also ATI display card), but I don't know the precise specs of the laptop.

I can also confirm the crash when adding folders to library, good if it's fixed. If you make the nightly build public, I can test the software couple of times a month on my secondary system. But for primary system this is yet in a too early phase. Cant wait for the TV plugin.

For pictures and music plugins I have one request: please make thumbnails, database, anything which is slow optional. I dont' care about thumbnails or MP3 tags/etc, just want it to be fast and stable. Anything should not be slower than in MP1.

Regards,
-Jaymz-

now that sounds realy strange.
because the MP2 installer is not installing anything which could even theoreticaly effect an M P0.2.3.0 installation

I'd like to see some pictures and videos posted. As I realize it is a Technology Preview, I'm not interested in installing it, but I'd love to actually see it in action!

The download is not very big and it won't mess up your current installation of MP 0.2.3 (or whatever).
I suggest you try it out. The PIP is awesome!

Although when stopping one of the videos, the PIP part is not taken away. It just sits there empty. Nevertheless, it is early days and I am very excited!

I probably will regardless, but videos would possibly hold me over until a more usable release. This is the kind of thing that messes with the wife approval factor :s

I also have problems with the program being slow, I tested it on another machine which is slower than the other one and here it is a little bit faster, but it could be even faster for better performance...Maybe it has something to do with dual cores?
