Default Guide to setting up MCE Remote

Hi,

Can someone point me in the direction of a guide to setting up my MCE Remote for MediaPortal?

I just bought the remote and would like to set it up for the wife.

Cheers.

Hi morphjk,

It is fairly simple:

- either use the built-in support which is enabled in Config.exe under "Remote"

- or use MCE replacement utility developed by and-81. It is awesome, I use it myself. Then you can customize just about everything, have it blast to other units, etc. Download it from http://www.team-mediaportal.com/comp...leinfo/id,229/

Help files are included.

So the MCE replacement utility is probably better to use.

I plan on changing over to my Logitech Harmony 880 remote to replace the MCE remote.

Cheers I'll have a look.

What version of MP are you using? I use 0.2.3 RC1 and it said the MC Replacement plugged is not compatible, therefore not loaded.

That is true, MCE Replacement plugin from the download section will not work with 0.2.3.0 RC 1, but there is a "Latest Test Copy" thread in the MCE Replacement plugin forum sub-section that will. Here:

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/la...in-t15793.html

When 0.2.3.0 Final is released I will update the download section.

But just to be clear, the MCE Remote works with MediaPortal out of the box, so you don't need my plugin unless you want some of the extra functions it provides.

Cheers,

You can also use EventGhost, in my modest opinion, it's the most complete solution available ---> http://www.team-mediaportal.com/file...es/EventGhost/ With this utility you can use all buttons and customize them the way you like it... You can also get a tutorial here: http://www.eventghost.org/wiki/Contr...ith_EventGhost it's easy to adapt it to MediaPortal.

I'm almost sure that it will work, even if it is not supported, you can use EventGhost to remap all the buttons...
