Country: | Hey there, I recently got a new HTPC and installed Vista x64 on it to use the full 4 GM RAM in the PC. Vista came with drivers for my Hauppauge card (PVR 150 MCE) so it looked like a plug and play solution, but the card didn't work either in MP nor in the original Hauppauge app. You just see like 1 frame per secon and the picure quality is very very bad - an unusable situation. After some research I found out that the combination of an x64 operating system and more than 3 GB RAM are the cause of the problem: Hauppauge is not able to develop a working driver for these systems! Hauppauge says, it's a Microsoft bug, MS denies this... So the situation is kind of stuck and I don't think a working driver can be exspected at all ![]() So if you have a Hauppauge card, stay with x86 or don't buy more than 3 GB RAM, everybody else, don't buy a Hauppauge card!!! Country: | Hi Maschine There have been reports of a workaround to the PVR150 / PVR500 which is to make your PC believe it has a few Kilobytes under 4Gb. You apparently do this by going into MSCONFIG, selecting the "Boot" tab, selecting "Advanced options..." and setting maximum memory to a figure such as 4095 or slightly lower. Unfortunately this does not really help my desktop as it has 6Gb and losing a few K is not too bad, losing 2Gb is a bit much. I guess at least my desktop is not my HTPC. Mew |

Country: | I'm running a analog Hauppauge PVR500 on Vista x64 with 4GB RAM and TV is working in Vista Media Center, but I have a problem configuring TV server because it freezes the moment I leave the tab where I choose country. That problem is probably for another thread - just wanted to say that the TV card obviously DO work with x64 and 4GB RAM...

Country: | I have an Hauppauge hvr-1300 and there's no problem at all. Sometimes it depends on the chipset used by the card. I had a Pinnacle 3010iX (chipset Philips 7162) which had the 4Gb Vista64 bug. Newer cards don't have such a problem, maybe because the drivers are developed since the beginning for 32 and 64 bit systems. Bye, sdf |
