Country: | Hi guys, UPDATE I changed the vsfilter section to reflect the installer version. I think it makes the hardest part quite easy now. UPDATE2 I added a flash splitter, due to a user request, made some changes to the ffdshow setup to enable correct subtitle handling in an .ogm container. Regarding the deinterlacing situation, unfortunately i have been unable to figure out a viable solution for this in mediaportal. Currently there is no automatic checking of interlaced material. If you use the gabest decoder for mpeg2 you will find that you already have auto deinterlacing for that codec. I maintain that besides auto deinterlacing built into ffdshow, the best solution would be to have mediportals osd be able to change presets manually. This way you could open a movie, see its interlaced press a button on your remote and change your preset. That being said i have no idea if this is even technically possible, let alone likely to happen. I wrote a codec guide for mediaportal that i would like you guys to read and comment on so that i may improve it enough to eventually be included into the wiki and possibly the install process. It is quite basic but allows you to play most types of files in mediaportal. Get it here http://users.vic.chariot.net.au/~mitreski TIA Goose Last edited by Goose; 2008-01-15 at 08:32. Country: | to be honest i haven't really thought about it. i am currently researching the best methods for deinterlacing other than letting your video card do it. will add it to the guide when i figure out what the best solution is. That being said i am open to suggestion. |

Country: | hi guys, i was thinking of changing the vsfilter part to use the installer instead of manually registering it yourself. necessary? wanted? Let me know please. edit: I decided i will adjust the guide to use the installer @paranoid delusion. I found the guide you were talking about but it refers to resizing and stuff not deinterlacing. Thanks for trying anyway. http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/Postprocessing seems that there isn't really any automatic checking of interlaced content in any software. Dscaler seems to be the best, but AFAIK it isn't auto either. Anyway, i will look into it more tomorrow. Last edited by Goose; 2007-10-25 at 10:41. |

If you install Ffdshow and enable the Dscaler option while installing you get a lot more deinterlacing filters to choose from in Ffdshow. I find them among the best, but cpu intensive. Some good info about interlacing/deinterlacing is found here. Last edited by einstein72; 2007-10-25 at 15:04. Reason: addition | ||

Country: | If you refer to the hardware supported mpeg2 acceleration needed for dvb: For Nvidia based cards you would need the PureVideo decoder. You find a chart with supported cards here: http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo_support.html For ATI based cards you would need Avivo, but I don't think it accelerates the dvb mpeg2 stream. Anyway, you can find some info here : http://ati.amd.com/technology/avivo/h264.html And a shooutout between the two can be found here. Last edited by einstein72; 2007-10-25 at 15:21. |
