Appologies for the hold up guys, ran into a new problem, the huffman decoder for the summaries is too slow, and packets are being skipped.

Going to try a new method, shall have something tommorow, fingers crossed.

Ok,

You've waited long enough now.

Please read the following carefully.

This TSWriter will incorperate the following EPG systems.

Freesat
Sky UK
Sky Italia

However ....

I have just tested this on my systems which have 1GB and 4GB of Memory.

A full Sky Grab will take up to 670mb of system Ram. This drops back to normal after the insert into the SQL database, however it still occurs.

It is recommended that you have a Dual Core system as this takes alot of CPU time. Not the actual grabbing but the inserts(about 120,000).

Now the fun bit

*******************************
* BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL TSWRITER *
*******************************

Dowload the following (I will be compiling a newer version from C++ 2005, until then)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Install this first then proceed to download the TSWriter

********************
Attachment 27696
********************

Stop your TVService
Copy the 3 files into the TVServer directory
Start your TVService
If you haven't then scan for your channels
Now in you need to select the channels needed for the EPG grab.

Freesat - TV Channels -> TV Epg Grabber -> BritShorts [28.2e]
Sky UK - Radio Channels -> Radio Epg Grabber -> EPG Background Audio [28.2e]
Sky Italia - TV Channels -> TV Epg Grabber -> Alice [13e]

Now you should get the EPG. A full Sky EPG grab can take upto 60mins (8days 587 channels).

I would recomend you turn off grab EPG whilst timeshifting as I haven't tested this yet.

All feedback is welcome.

Please note that it is not perfect yet. There are a few problem channels, I.E. they have the title but no description. I'd say 95% of entries have a description. Most of the 5% is "..programs start at ..".

DJBlu

I would like to thank the following for their code and assistance.

mitsubishi

Hey DJBlu that looks like an amazing achievement! Thanks for all the hard work! To get it working do I need all channels numbered exactly like the Sky EPG- i.e. can I just do an ordinary scan in MediaPortal and run this and it will work or is there a special channel list I should download somewhere?

No this will find the channels based on their Service ID's. It will update whatever channels are stored in your database. You only need the files in the zip archive.

OK, thanks. If I go into TV-server options TV Servers > Desktop > 1 DVB S Hauppauge WinTVx 88 DVB S/S2 Tuner/Demod I have 3 options DiSeqC, Band and Satellite- it is currently on None for "DiSeqC" and Ku-Linear (Universal) for "Band" - are these the correct settings for a normal Sky minidish in the UK? There is also a choice of 3 options for 28.2 for Satellite - Astra 2A/2B/2D Eurobird, Freesat, or Setanta Sports- do I have to set these all up as different satellites (i.e. SAT1, SAT2, SAT3) or do I only need to scan one?

Hi DJBlu
Sorry to say it does not seem work on MP1 RC3 Blue3, I followed your installation instructions and after installing the TSWriter I get the following error when in MY TV, "Unable to start time shifting, Unknown error" this happens for all channels, I also get the following error if I try to stop the TV service, "Error 1053 the service did not stop in a timely fashion" after restoring the original TSWriter everything started to work normally again.
