Default TechnoTrend Premium not recognised

Hi!

I tried TVEngine 3.0, because Frodo told us TechnoTrend Premium should work. After install of all the necessary files (following the rules on tvengine.team-mediaportal.com) the TVService is manually started, but TechnoTrend is not recognised...

The program Technotrend ships with the latest drivers for this card 2.19c is working.

I use a WinXP Pro SP2 setup with latest updates and all the necessary things you recommend in the guides/wiki.

For more info read the posts in this thread (on page 17/18):
Starting work on Techno Trend Premium support

This is my tv.log, there are no other logfiles:
http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com/11136

and see the tv.log of user Strawberry that has the same problem with his rebranded Technotrend, a Hauppauge Nexus-s:
http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com/11100

Setup:
- WinXP SP2 + updates
- Technotrend 2.19c driver
- all software recommended by MP
- MP 0.2.0.0. with MediaPortal-svn--10-28-2006--00-59-Rev11370.exe

Other software like ProgDVB works for this card

Actually i was wrong
we added support for the Technotrend card with BDA drivers
unfortunaly there are only WDM drivers for the TechnoTrend premium cards
so this is not supported yet

Frodo, I sent you a pm where I asked you if you knew how to contact Draktheas. He built support for Technotrend Premium WDM for a previous version of MP, but stopped developing, because of the development of TVEngine, so he could pick it up after TVEngine was released. He planned to build it for TvEngine and became part of de dev.team, so I thought you and Draktheas had allready built support in TVEngine.

Draktheas hasn't been seen on the forums for 2 months now, but user MBB has some sources and is able to redo some work on the current SVN's. Maybe this is a way to support Technotrend Premium WDM cards? Or do you know how to contact Draktheas, so we can ask him to built it into the new TVEngine software?

I could help by testing the changes, but then I have to learn how to compile MP from the source. I think I could manage that.

Hi Griffon,

a friend of mine knows how to compile MP, as a matter of fact, we were using TvServer before it was released as a beta.
The only problem is that he is very busy at work, the upcoming week he has to travel for his work and is not at home.
So I think that together with mbb we can get this working (y)

This would be great! I allready sent MBB a PM, so let's wait what he has to say about it and if he has some time. After that we could ask your friend to build some stuff.

I think Frodo would appreciate it if we continue this conversation in the other thread at General Development: Starting work on Techno Trend Premium support

What about the MPSA rewrite that drak did? He mentioned that this was a necessary thing to do to be able to get the TTPremium cards to work. Did this ever get implemented into the MP source or is drak the only one with the code for it?

AFAIK Drak didn't release the code, but let's hope MBB has it.

Hi MBB,

The card isn't recognized, so not available to the program.
I use the Technotrend-drivers version 2.19c. The card is in the devicelist of Windows, but TVService doesn't seem to pick it up. I think this card also needs somekind of intialization.
So because no initialization, there is also no configuration possible and therefore no sound, autotune, picture etc.

For example, when using the standard Technotrend TV Program, there is a splash-screen when starting the program that shows initialization of the card. After initialization the card is available to the program.

Same method is used in WinSTB (opensource an on sourceforge) and Tvedia, the program I now use for my HTPC. I don't know if this initialization is also done when using a 'BDA'-card, such as Skystar2 etc. But for now, I think this initialization-step should come first.

AFAIK, WinSTB use the WDM-drivers of the card and pushes the data through a Directshow-filter (not sure how it works, but searching on google gave me some results). Maybe the code of WinSTB will help you?

We could also contact Technotrend and fill in some forms so they can release the SDK for the Premium-cards. Maybe they also lent the team some cards, as they did with some of their 'BDA'-cards.
There are a lot of people out there having a premium-card. Just look at the biggest DVB-shops in Germany, those cards are still sold!

It would be a great addition for MediaPortal and even could boost popularity (Look at the views the original thread has in General Development, over 30,000!!).

Draktheas also mentioned a rewrite of MPSA. Do you know what this rewrite is and if you have this code?

If I could help you gathering information for example, let me know!

Last, MBB thanks for your help so far, I know you are really busy at the moment for the MDAPI-plugin!

Ok, I had some time to work on it this week and I have run into another problem. Currently the MPSA (MediaPortal Stream Analyzer) filter expects PMT, PAT, and SDT data for a particular program to be on the same transponder. Unfortunately this isn't fully DVB compliant, as the DVB specification allows for SDT data to be on a seperate transponder or in a seperate data stream from the PAT and PMT packets for the same program.

Yes, the MPSA re-write is comlete. It is working on my system. But again, I don't know how well it is going to work with the current RC of MP nor with the new TV engine. So as soon as the new TV engine is available in the repository, I will be trying to get it integrated.

Drak
Would be a shame if all his work would have been to no use if noone can get a hold of him. I bet he spent quite many hours trying to get it all working..

But I've also got some hope that mpp's patch might fix the problem
