vista Security Issues with MP

This may not be the correct place for this post as it is not exactly a fix. However, it is a useful diagnosis of the old 'Unable to Connect MPG2 pin problem' and may point in the right direction.

I am using SysInternals process monitor filtered for MediaPortal (latest release). When recordTV is selected with UAC enabled, several Access Denied errors occur. The MPG2 error occurs. see attached txt file).

Sample error:

RegOpenKey HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaResourc es\DirectSound ACCESS DENIED

When UAC is disabled however, this Access Denied errors are not generated and Recording/Timeshifting etc works correctly.

Most of the errors are when accessing registry keys and in particular direct sound media resources. There are also some access issues to do with system certificates.

Hopefully, this might help any developers zoom in on this particular issue that seems to be affecting a lot of Vista users now.
