I tuned to my local PBS station and 'Sesame Street' was playing. During the show, I could hear the normal audio. But mixed in with the normal audio was a narrative dialogue. During parts of the show, the narration voice would just say what was happening on the screen, like "There are lights flashing behind Cookie Monster" or "The pink monster hugs the green monster", etc (not verbatim).

While watching the show, I would switch to my normal TV which has an ATSC tuner and the narration dialogue was never present.

So there has to be multiple audio streams there because I was hearing two different streams depending if I used my HTPC/VBOX/MP tuner or if I just watched the show with my TV's built in ATSC tuner.

Is there something I am missing here? I still haven't tried out TVE3 (TV server). I plan to this weekend. So this multiple audio problem is with the normal My TV built into MP.
I also have a Vbox 150 and have to say I get the exact same problem as bobn4burton, seems to be especially acute for PBS stations. They always have the SAP (second audio program) or DVS (descriptive video service) running, providing annoying commentary on the show.

I just installed the TV server to try and fix this and the other problem bobn4burton mentions, that of MediaPortal crashing after a few ATSC channel changes (or even after not being able to resolve a channel a single time). The reliability of the ATSC capture, and the speed of channel changes, definitely went up. But I still hear the DVS, and when I click F9 and select "audio language," the only option I see is "1 AC3:"

Question

Is a Dvico Fusion HDTV5 RT Lite able to pull in clear QAM using TVEngine currently? I cannot get it to scan any QAM station, but perhaps I'm trying in vain.

Thanks for the help,
CFC

I'm replying to my own thread, and hopefully helping out bobn4burton and others who are having problems with incorrect audio on ATSC channels. I did a little searching and found that the PBS affiliate in my town is rather on the cutting edge and sends out multiple audio streams somewhat unconventionally tagged as such. At least that's my interpretation, 'cause I don't really understand how this all work so well, or why MediaPortal, when it scans the channels, associates the audio stream to these channels that it does.

I do know that, for those channels, I just had to open the TV Server configuration, edit the channel in question, go to the ATSC tab, and then modify the "Audio Pid" number so that it is just one digit lower than the number originally attributed in the channel scan, and all of my audio problems were solved. So I suggest recording the original number and then do some experiments in modifying that number by an integer or two up or down to see if you can find the audio stream that you desire. It still won't allow you to change the audio stream on the fly, but at least you'll lock the channel in to something you can live with.

I have this card but I've not been able to get it to work yet. This is not MediaPortal's fault, but rather the crappy drivers. Windows Vista detects 3 new hardware components in Device Manager, and the main one, "PCI ATSC" keeps saying "No drivers are currently installed for this device". I've tried drivers on the CD and from the product page with no luck.

Anyhow, this card should work with MediaPortal. It's identical to the KWorld PlusTV HD PCI 120 and another user on this thread has managed to get that card working with MediaPortal.
