Country: | I'm expectin a resounding "no", but here goes... Is it possible to set custom aspect ratios in MP? I connect my PC to a 16:9 CRT over S-Video (I have no other choices unfortionately) using a Geforce 6600. I have searched all over the place but I can't find a way to set a proper res. When I watch TV the "stretch" aspect ratio is perfect, but for DVDs and DivX movies the image is stretches to much vertically. I would like to set my own aspect somewhere between "normal" and "stretch". Anyone have any ideas? |

| Portal Member | Right now struggling with resolution problems myself, but they're a little bit different... However, I think you could solve your problem by setting up a custom resolution for the TV via Nvidia's Control Panel. It's a bit tricky and sometimes it just won't work (right now, that's one of the problems I'm having) but if you manage to get it set up it should solve your aspect ratio problems without having to change anything in MediaPortal. It worked great for me earlier but then I updated my drivers and now it's not working no more... I've heard about 3rd party programs that allow you to set custom resolutions as well but I don't really know anything about them. I could give you some more info on how to set it all up in Nvidia's Control Panel but maybe you'd be better if someone else explained it, as it's not working for me right now and I might tell you something that's wrong. Anyways, good luck. You might need it ![]() And if someone else would be reading this now, I would appreciate any help on why the screen option in Mp-config is greyed out since I downloaded the RC3 update... Notice that I also updated the graphics driver and, so far, have been too lazy to roll-back... |

Country: | Thanks Joel, maybe I'll forget about making a custom aspect ratio and go back to trying to get the custom res right. I have tried the instructions from various posts with no luck, so I guess like you my drivers for the 6600 are wrong too. Anyone know which drivers for the geforce 6600 will let me set a widescreen res that will work over S-video to a CRT TV? |

| setting resolution on the videocard wont affect the playback video aspectratio. if you use the ffdshow filter to playback videos, you can stretch and make the video any shape you want (i think you can also make presets based on filename, but i havent used that too much) |
