Default DVB-C in the UK

Hi All,

Has anybody had any success/failure at using a DVB-C device for cable in the UK?

I am a subscriber so would like to have access to the FTA and subscribed channels.

Any feedback would be greatfully received before I start buying kit that won't work

Guessing it's going to be NTL or Telewest. Are there any others in the UK?

Even they are the same company now (although their systems are not yet integrated. I believe Telewest is the domenant partner).

Yep, as funkstar guessed I subscribe to NTL in an ex c&w area. But I would be interested to hear from Telewest people as well.

Can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure that the UK implementations of DVB-C differ in some extremely important and fundamental respect from the international "standard" approaches used elsewhere in Europe and the USA. As a result, I don't think there are any DVB-C cards for PCs which will work with the signals provided over UK DVB-C.

Happy to be corrected if anyone knows definitely to the contrary though!

The link kind of sums up where my research has got to so far. I have found a number of forum threads talking about how it should be possible but sadly none confirming that they have actually managed it and what hardware/software they used.

Sorry to drag up old posts, but when your a Newbie you should always use the search button so I did.

Anyway I'm in the same position as the OP, ex c&w ntl, I have a twinhan 2031 card, which is working with MyTheater, I have edited the dvbc sybolrate 6952 file with my frequencies e.g. 715000,64QAM,695200 and I'm still not picking up any channels any ideas
