| MediaPortal Version: 1.0.0.0 RC MediaPortal Skin: BlueTwo Wide Windows Version: Vista x64 ultimate Video Card: Geforce 8800 GT So I've just started getting a weird error with media portal when I try to get it to autostart. If I place media portal in windows' startup folder, or enable "autostart on bootup" from config, then I'll get the following error when windows loads up: "This sample cannot run in a desktop window with the current display settings. Please change your desktop settings to a 16- or 32-bit display mode and re-run this sample. MediaPortal has to be closed." now, this error just started popping up. MediaPortal previously used to start up no problem, and I have it running on another PC without a hitch. If I click ok on the error window, then restart media portal, it starts no problem. It's only during bootup. I can hear the windows error noise sound just before my desktop displays, so I'm thinking maybe media portal is trying to load during the windows loading screen which is 256 color or something? In any case, this error is annoying, and I'd greatly appreciate any help. |

Country: | Obviously the nvidia driver is not being registered as running, that why for directx purposes, MP is not recognising you having a card capable of playing it. try reinstalling\updating the driver, make sure you use something like driver sweeper to give you a clean driver install. Regards

Country: | Hi all- I just started running into this error as well since my last reformat. Ive re-installed my nVidia driver a couple times now and also tried the driver sweeper. This issue only happens when MP tries to start on my PC startup. After I click OK to this message, Im able to start MP up without issue any time after... until I reboot again. Any other thoughts as to what may be causing this? Thanks a bunch!

Country: | Vista rearranges its boot load up files, so the Nvidia\ATI driver should be well loaded prior to MP starting, why the delay I have not a clue, possibly the indexing service still searching. The only way i know around it is to put a startup delay in MP config\general\delay of say 10 or 15 seconds just to make sure the drivers have loaded correctly.

Country: | Winpatrol lets you adjust startup times for almost everything individually, I have the plus version, but think the free basic does the same.

Country: | Yeah I solved this with a 15sec delay on MP start. Sucks when the comp is all ready running, but on autostart its great. Mp still launches so fast I barely can see the loading banner before its loaded completely. Before that the screen is black while the desktop is loading. |
