On MediaPortal startup, I get 2 consecutive messages: 'Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowly' After 'OK', I get a second message: 'Warning, nothing will be rendered. The reference rendering device, but, your computer only has a reduced-functionality reference device installed. Install the directx sdk to get the full reference device. A software device that implements the entire direct3d feature set, but runs very slowly.' I installed the Microsoft DirectX Developer SDK version June 2006 - I still get the same messages. Thanks for your assistance! Cris ![]() |

Country: | what's your video card? sounds like your system is a bit underpowered. I'm running mp on a p3 800mhz, but it's got a dedicated video card & 512meg ram. i seriously doubt you'll have any joy with only 128mg ram!! ![]() |

| Portal Tester | Your graphics card and drivers are missing the required directx9 hardware/software requirements . I doubt the gpu is even dx8. Best buy a dx9 spec graphics card. As you have download the directx SDK which will instal software that will mimic hardware dx9 specs with software (hence reference rastisizer) but be impossibly slow unless the cpu is powerful and as this has failed on your PC this would indicate your PC is well below minimum spec for DX. Run Dxdiag and view the results. Your system memory requires at least 512MB for the OS to run smoothly without the need to constantly use the hardrive which slows the system down considerably before you run any apps and MP requires in the region of 100MB to run smoothly. |

| I just upgradet my PC to Vista (32bit) and now im getting the exact same error. Athlon XP 2200+ GF 4 TI 4600 512 MB RAM MP-Version: 1.0 RC3 On XP everything worked fine. I Already tried the suggested Link, but that core.dll will make Mediaportal crash (i think, its an outdated version.) I have also set the thumbnail settings to the lowest possible. Any suggestions what i can do?
