| Hello All. I do have a problem with shares not being accessable by MP anymore after some time. I have my MP3 selection on a network storage device and some TV recording on another PC. I have network drives mapped to both devices from my HTPC. After some time MP shows only blank folders. Once I retouch the folders with the explorer from the HTPC, MP can find files in them again. Looks that something goes to "sleep" and needs a wakeup. Is that a known problem and does a workaround exist? Thanks, T. |

Country: | I've never seen this myself and I have heaps of network shares configured on my HTPC. Can you check if there is anything in the logs about not being able to access them? Also, might help to use the support template. at least give us the OS on the client and the type of NAS you're using. |

| Hi Marcus Thanks for your comment. At least I know that it shouldnt be like this then. I am having several PCs running WinXP Profesional with MP (latest SVN) on it. They have fixed IP addresses and have linked network drives between them. I can access each PCs recording dir from any other PC then. Plus I have a Maxtor shared storage device connected to the network (fixed IP) with a shared drive. I observe that the link to a directory gets lost when the client didnt access the server for a while. It doesnt matter if the server is the NAS or a PC. Then the shares content in MP is shown empty. After simply opening explorer and touch the share, MP shows the contents when trying again. I have attached such log from today and written a comment in it. If you have any idea let me know please. Thanks, T |

Country: | I have the same problem as Hans, this is very frustrating, because everytime it happens, i have to get up, walk to my tv/htpc, minimize MP, open explorer, click on the shares, etc.. Then maximize MP again, and then i can relax on the sofa with my remote, and my shares working in MP. |

| Portal Tester | I have been using a little program called Network Drive manager... it runs in the task bar and makes sure all of your shares are alwasy active. After running this program I have never had that issue.... and it's freeware. http://www.suncross.nl/downloads/Net...iveManager.zip

Country: | so do you guys all map network drives or do you use UNC paths? I hate mapping and use the format \\server\tv recordings to get to my networked shared drives etc. I have heaps of these drives linked to my PC upstairs with no issues. When the PC upstairs has put the drives to sleep and I try to view the contents in MP, there is a slight pause while the drive upstairs wakes up (less than a couple of seconds) but that's pretty reasonable. |

| Hi Marcus. Yes, I used s:\sharename\folder and obviously it doesnt wake-up the drives correctly. I would like to avoid to disable the timeout since I like to put the drives on sleep after some time. If I can avoid external programs to allways wakeup the shares (when actually not needed) woud also be great. With the UNC way I can use \\ipnumber\sharename\folder i guess. it worked when I tested it now and I will observe if it wakes up my shared network drive as desired. How does this way actually store the login and password of the network drive? Thanks |
