Default Extra voice over recordings on PBS

I don't even know what this 'feature' is called so it is hard for me to search. I'm sure it is some kind of special feature for the blind, but on my PBS channel I'm getting some kind of second voice that is giving a narration of what is happening on the screen ("elderly couple walks across a field", "modern home with solar panels").

What is this called and how do I turn it off? Thanks!

If you find out, tell me to. Thought it might be just me.

Try the A key to switch between different audio channels. You need to have the hali media splitter installed for it to work.

Basically this is just another audio channel for the "visually impaired" (I guess that is the term)

It's called Descriptive Audio and is on a secondary audio channel (or SAP - secondary audio program). Not all shows have this audio track.

Do you have anymore information on the 'hali media splitter'?? I have never heard of that. Do you have a link to some information on how to install/configure it?
Also...if you press the 'A' key to switch the audio channel, does it remember which audio stream you have selected? So for instance, MP defaults to use the "blind narration" audio channel. So if I switch it by pressing 'A' and then turn the tv off and come back later, will it remember which channel I selected? If it always defaults to the same audio channel, it will cause a problem for recording shows. (or are both audio channels recorded?)
Also...are we talking about TV Server or the built in MyTV?
