Default Haupaugge 150MCE recording problem

Hi!

I have a problem that is starting to drive me completely nuts.

I am using Haupaugge 150MCE card with MP for over 2 years now, but is almost useless last 6 months. The thing that is happening is that when I schedule recording sometimes (not always!) my PC while recording crashes and goes into reboot. Ofcourse, first part of created dvr-ms file is not watchable, MP continues to record when PC boots up and I can watch the end of recorded show.

What is the strangest thing, it is not happening always, but lets say, once of 3 times. I tried everything, new versions of MP (tried from 0.1.3 - untill 0.2.1.0), new graphic card drivers, new Hauppauge drivers, nothing. Then I installed clean Win XP MCE edition and tried recording through MCE becuse I thought my card was faulty, but all was OK; I recorded over 20 different shows, all perfect. I installed clean version of MP on that Win MCE setup, and PC crashed on first try to record :-((

I am out of ideas here, thought of buying new capture card, but I really like the quality of 150MCE, some suggested just using MS MCE instead, but that is out of the question, it is like comparing kid's car toy to Ferrari. I coudnt believe my eyes when I worked with MCE how basic and lame it is compering to MP...

Hope someone might help,

thanx

D.

First thing which pops in my mind is a hardware problem.

Instant reboots often are caused by hardware problems like heating, or a defect card.

Check out your fan's, and try to exchange things like your tv-card, memory, etc and test.

Good luck
