Question HD channel in Mediaportal using FloppyDTV on DVB-C network

Hello,

Sorry for not using the template, but this is just a very generic question. I have been using the latest stable version of MP very happily on a testing platform, but I haven't brought the machine to the living room yet, since I am still experimenting.

An HD channel has recently been added on our cable network, and although the channel is found and I can select it in the channel list, I can only hear the sound but I get no image. I thought it was a codec issue, but the channel can be readily watched with the FireDTV or DVBviewer software, using various H264 codecs that I have tested here and there. The codecs are selected correctly in MP.

I have been instructed to install TVserver, with which unfortunately I have the dreaded "no audio/video detected" issue. Apparently and according to my log files, the .ts files are locked and TV server doesn't stream anything to the MP client, even in a single seat environment. A shame, since I don't seem to have any other issues. If it wasn't for that HD channel, I'd be happy as a pig in sh*t and the HTPC would be in the living room, with my wife serving us cold drinks and kids making snowmen in the backyard.

I can live without the HD channel (VoomHD), but since I expect to see more HD channels in the future, I'd like to resolve this issue. I could also remove VoomHD from MediaPortal's channel list, and fire up one of the other viewers to watch VoomHD, but some neighbours would have a laugh.

The question is: do I really need the TVengine3 thingy to preview/view the HD channel in MediaPortal ?

Thanks for your help,
Lorenzo

The answer is: Yes, you really need the TVE3 to watch HD channels since the integrated TVE2 doesn't support HD/H264 .
