Default How do I update to latest SVN if I've updated before?

I seem to remember reading that it's not a good idea to update an SVN over another SVN & that they should only be installed on top of RC4.
Is this correct? What's the easiest way to update?

Backup your existing SVN update, delete the mediaportal directory, copy your original MP install into the mediaportal directory apply SVN as before.

i heard that to. nevertheless i used to install a new SVN over the other at least every week always, since i use mediaportal (>1 year) and i never had any problems with that.

to install another SVN just do it like the first time. copy all the content in your mediaportal directory and execute the start.bat.

I have always done the same as smnnekho - I make a backup copy of the MediaPortal folder first, then copy the new SVN into the working MediaPortal folder, run "start.bat", reboot, and it has (so far!) always worked fine for me.....

I have seen comments from others that you should only apply the SVN onto the base install, but I don't understand the logic behind that because each new SVN contains all the updated files of all previous SVNs..... :?
