Hallo.

I have a strange problem with Media Portal.
I have just installed it on my computer and it works on everything, exept when i try to open a folder containing about 2600 music videos.
The folder is about 160 gb so i understand that it is a large task for the program, but whey does it freez?
Do anyone have any solution to my problem?

Some info about my computer, p4 2,6, 512mb, geforce 5600,about 1 terra hd (5 discs).

I also want to say thanks for a superb software, i like it very much

Please use the Template to fill out the necessary information.

Open MP -> My Videos (where your problem is) close MP (Alt + F4 if necessary) & post your mediaportal.log to MP Pastebin & the link back here.

ok then i have tried.
I have now copied det videos in 2 different folders, about 1200 in each.. anyhow... when I start a music video it works just fine, but it when i try to exit det video the computer stuck to.. I dont understand what is the problem.. Becouse I never have problems watching movied in windows (VLC,media player classic,Windows media player.)

I tried your tips now, but I got the same problem.

But i think I have found the error, if I open a folder with lets say about 20 avi files, it goes fast to opend the folder and to start a movie and then exit det movie and go back to the folder.
If i open a movie in a folder with several hundrerds videos or thousend, the computer use a very long time to bout enter the folder and to exit det viewing of the video.

Is there any way to solve this?

By the looks of that log above, there is something horribly wrong with your databases. Id suggest trying to delete them and start again.

I have now removed the program and re-installed it.
It still have the same problem.

It takes about 20-30 second to opend the folder with about 1200 files. and when i watch a movie and want to go back to the folder it also takes 20-30 seconds.

if i do the same thing in a folder with 10-20 files it done in a second.

Hi,
When you re-installed MP did you remove the old folder (if not the db files it's still the same)?

When re-isntalling, run the MP0.2RC4 installation program first, then install latest SVN & then run MP with the first time wizard (first time setup).

& when you use 10 to 20 files in a folder & open it, is it the same error (SQLite.NET.SQLiteException with the db in mediaportal.log?

i removed the folder yes, it dont come any error when i opens a folder with music videos (not all videos in one directory but 1200 works) but it takes a long time (20-30 sec)

I have tried to move in different folders, and noticed that a folder with 100,200,300 files have different time when i open and closes the video..

Is this Normal? when i have a folder with 100 music videos it works fine, but i have so much videos and want them all in one folder.

while i'm asking, are there any function like the one in windows media player when you can play videos and have a list on the right side?

Can you try to open that folder just in Windows Explorer?

There is a bug in WinXP with the auto preview of folders with lots of AVI files (or less but larger files).

Especially if this is a networked drive, you may find it is with Windows itself. Thee is a solution, I think it was a registry hack to disable autopreview for folders with lots of AVI's but it was a while ago that I did this.

Not sure if this will solve your issue, but opening Win Explorer is a quick and painless way to test, at least.
