Default MP 1.0.0.0 RC 1 problems, sound and DVD Menus

I seem to have a couple of problems after upgrading to MP 1.0.0.0 RC1. I have the latest SVN from 6-22-2008

For one, my MCE remote no longer controls volume inside of MP. I can turn the volume up and down inside of Vista itself, but it no longer functions inside of MP. I tried every setting MP offers. It worked fine with the 0.2.3.3.0 version of MP.

Second, for DVD titles with menus, such as Star Trek Voyager, the initial menus are now blank. I hear sound, but the screen is blank. If I click "DVD Menu" on the remote, I can get an episode screen to come up, but the controls are flaky (right and left seem to be messed up). Again, with version 0.2.3.3.0, all worked fine. I'm using Dscaler to view my DVDs.

Thanks for any ideas..for now, I'm rolling back to 0.2.3.3.0 version.

This is not going to cheer you up, but volume works fine here with Vista32.

DVD, we know there are issues with navigation, its being looked into.

Was your Update a clean install, that means no remnants carried over from your previous 0.2.3.0 configuration, and that goes for TVServer as well, except for import of channels, devs wanted everything as clean as possible, to stop any errors carrying over.

ps. deleted other post you had started and not finished (only specs posted)

Hi Ray,

Thanks very much for the reply, and sorry for the other "not finished" post..I didn't even know I posted that!

So, I did do an upgrade of 0.2.3.0 and not a clean install, so I assume something got corrupted, but the volume did work fine in 0.2.3.0..is there a procedure for backing up your data and settings, then removing the old installation, and installing a fresh copy (and moving all data to that fresh install?) I've done it before, but with Vista, Media Portal seems to get installed in both Program Files and in ProgramData, so I want to make sure I get everything backed up.

I appreciate your help and you guys rock!

Rich

Next public build (due this Friday?) should fix one issue with the DVD menus: 0001399: DVD Menu responds extremely slow - MediaPortal Bugtracker . The bug was introduced after Rev19127.
