bump... any ideas?

I have just noticed a line in the application_evemtlog.csv, this might be important. Any idea what does this error code means??:
"4/29/2008 11:19:01 AM";"Media Center Receiver";"(0)";"Error";"TV tuner malfunction. (0x8000ffff) Hauppauge WinTV 88x Tuner";"4"

I have also found in the event viewer the next message from Media Center Receiver:

TV tuner malfunction. (0x8000ffff) Hauppauge WinTV 88x Tuner

What can cause this? I have the latest TV Card drivers, and XP MCE upto date too????

New addition: Just reinstalled the comp wit XP prof this time, but MP crashes the same way as before!!!!!!
This must be a definitive MP problem, as I'm getting good picture from PowerCinema (no sound here, but this is another issue).
Any help please!

Have you got all the XP updates installed, ie SP3, afterwards you should apply the DVBFix from here, ignore the dual tuner bit, its for dvb cards generally, and is the same files tha are in MCE rollup2.

The error you are getting really looks like the drivers are having a problem with the TVCard, does it work correctly with it's own software.

Also he said he had the same problem in vista and that fix seems to be for xp
Recommend you start your own thread, rather than hijacking someone elses.

New improvements again...
I just installed the Mediaportal client on my notebook, and the TV works!!!! Seems, that the TV server and the client together are causing the pc to crash! Does anyone else using AMD 780G board here??
How van I tell what conflict causes the crash??
Only one issue with the TV on the notebook. The picture starts breaking after a while but if I switch channels, its good again...

I actually have the same board,

My issue is similair but under vista, Paranoid Delusion recommend I made separate thread. From a other client (also laptop) Tv works ok. (also with the occasional hiccup but I'm guessing thats because of wireless connection having too little bandwidth) From mediaportal on the same pc mediaportal crashes as opposed to your cause where the whole pc crashes.
Turning tv on crashes mediaportal

*edit
UPDATE!: if I disable crossfire (and thus the onboard HD3200) it works. I don't know if you have a separate videocard around so you could verify that this can be traced back to the onboard card.

From every post that comes up stating MP has crashed my pc, it has always gone back to drivers\codecs being the cause, so if your system is clean with filmerit (link below), then one of your drivers (usually video\audio) is having a argument with DirectX.
Check for any updates for BIOS\drivers from your laptop manufacturer, see also if there is anyway to increase onboard graphics memory.

I run filmerit and it has some issues with the sound driver, but nothing against the graphics... I found that ATI drivers were causing some problems with the earlier 690G chipset. Any ideas how can I isolate the problem? I am running all the latest drivers. Cheers!
