Default No signal detected when fastforward or rewind

I'm getting this annoying window saying "No signal detected" when fastforward or rewind on DVB-T channels (it seems this doesn't affect analog, I'm not 100% sure). But I do get picture all the time, so this is non-sense. The problem is that while this windows appears I can't stop it fast forwarding or rewinding until I click Ok or wait for it to close, so I miss the point at where I wanted to resume.

I've tried several codecs, the problem is that the only audio codec that works for all channels is the one I am using: Main Concept Mpeg2 Audio Codec for Hauppauge. If I use MPA, I don't get audio on the channel that I watch most often.

BTW, I know about a related problem when switching channels, that was discussed some time ago. This problem only happens when I fast forward or rewind. I have searched and didn't find any previous related post.

I know this is not the reply you want, never heard of this complaint, does it happen 100% of the time.
Also assuming your timeshifting (as TV error), the only thing i know is back-record whilst timeshifting is not working, ie partway through watching a program decide to record, should start recording from the timeshift buffer and get the whole show.

it's one of those wait and see if someone else has the answer.

Best Wishes

Default Same problem with HVR1300

Hi, same problem here, sometimes I got "No signal" when fast-forwarding live TV (timeshifting, of course) but also recorder TV.

I use the InterVideo codec because it seemed to give me the best rendering (no interlace problems, no tearing, no shadows, unlike many other codec I tried).

Fast-forward in general also shows very few frames, sometimes also "previous" frames, so I tend to use "skip n seconds/minutes" rather than use FF which provides a very poor user experience.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. When I press fast forward or rewind on time shifted TV, a few seconds after that (5 to 10) it will always pop up a window saying "No signal detected" (in Spanish), but signat is present the whole time.

I have verified that this happens with MPV/MPA codecs as well and in DVB-T and analog. It's independent of the codecs in use and TV source. Although on analog seems to take longer to pop up (up to 30 s). To resume: I'm watching TV with time-shift (it defaults to enabled), at some point I want to rewind, so I press F6 to rewind and about five seconds later a window pops up saying that no signal is detected; this window blocks further control of TV until I close it, or wait for it to dissapear a few seconds later (often causes to miss the scene I wanted to watch again).

If there was a way to disable this pop up window, I would be happy. But that only reflects that the TV engine has a problem detecting that the signal is present while I quickly swift through the time shift buffer (at any speed, BTW).

This has happened to me as well, using an analogue card (Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150) - even without using fast forward, just while watching time shifted TV, it just suddenly said "No signal" and everything inside the timeshift buffer was lost.

xurr, I don't remember if I get this message while watching TV recordings; I think not. I'll try it today and post back.

I do use FF and RW a lot, for me MediaPortal does these functions reasonably well. What's more, when I was looking for a software for my HTPC I discarded all that didn't have this function, like the offerings from Intervideo. Although nothing seems to beat the perfectly smooth fast-forwarding of WinTV2K with Hauppauge PVR tuners.

After some test, I noticed that the MPV codec is the only one that allows "smooth" fast-forward / rewind, all the other codecs I tried perform very badly (at 32x there is no frame shown at all with most codecs).

I haven't been able to reproduce the "No signal" problem using MPV.

I still prefer the quality (esp. de-interlacing) of InterVideo (which is supplied with my HVR 1300 card).

Did you ever have installed like myself one of the old versions of MP that suffered from "the no signal problem" could possibly still be active and giving the problem.

Anything carried over from a previous installation !

Codec used has no bearing to no signal, that is a TV card to MP time respond error, which hopefully has completely gone.

No the problem isn't there. A few weeks ago I completely reformatted and installed Windows XP SP2 from scrath and then Media Portal 0.2.0.0 (final). I am aware of the problems with no signal detected that some RC/SVN versions had before the final release; but those were different as it happened when switching channels. It's interesting that this happens with the two tuners that I have: PVR 350 (analog, hardware encoding) and HVR 900 (DVB-T).

Thanks for your interest .
