Great, fix still needed as old files supplied.

So to anyone reading this with Windows XP SP3, DVBFIX is still required for 2 DVB tuners.

For 1 tuner systems, what does it fix? And by 2 DVB tuners I presume that includes a dual DVB tuner card?
(I am referring to the DVB fix and not the SP3 update)

Yes, it doesn't matter if you have two individual tuners or a dual tuner card, the fix is still needed.

Default Is two DVB-C cards possible (Twinhan Mantis 2033)?

Hi,

My previous motherboard went dead about three months ago. I decided to wait for this motherboard (read sig.) and oh boy it took only 2 months. Now I was quite content whit my previous setup. It crashed now and then and I blamed MP, but actually it was the motherboard showing it's faults. And after using two commercial units (old Nokia and newish Vision) I realized that actually MP (even the old version) was much better featurewise (obviously) and functionally.

Now I am starting from scratch and I decided I would like to put two tuners in. Currently mediaportal works great with one tuner but with two tuners not. The cards themselves are using the same driver and chipset. They are different revisions but it should not matter anyway. Both cards work well by themselves but together I can not get the desired results.

I have attached the test tool zip and maybe the real pros (yes I mean developers) can see something from the logs which is obvious to the trained eye.

I really would like to keep using XP PRO, but if the problem is solved switching to MCE2005 or Vista so'll be it. I have used the dvbfix util and as I said both cards work well individually.

Sorry. If the BDA drivers are well-written there are zero issues using identical cards with an up2date XP or Vista.
So most likely you'll have to report to Twinhan about this or refund one of those cards.

Default Any recommendations regarding dual cards

Thanks RTV,

I will be trying as it is not very easy to get other DVB-C cards (by easy I mean = cheap :-)

I was wondering if there is any configuration pitfalls in tv server configuration as I use 2 cards.

Can I just leave the settings as they are after first setup (and tuning the channels). What I mean if I use two cards which find have exactly the same channels, do I need to worry which card handles the recording of this mux and showing of a different mux? For example in Finland we have two major muxes : YLE and commercial TV.

Is it beneficial to dedicate one card for YLE channels and the other for commercial TV channels?

Is it better to let only the other card handle EPG?

Markku

No. On DVB you usually only assign different cards if they differ in their decrypting capabilities.
It's safe to just put in another card / assign the previously scanned channels to the new card and you're done.

Hi all,
I was using gigabyte U8000 USB edition with Media-Portal and allthough I could use only DVB-T I faced a new problem. Two days ago I installed a new PCI DVB-S card (Sky Star HD2) and now I can not see DVB-T anymore. TVServer added automatically my new card but somehowe disabled my old one. I can see both cards in TVServer, but to do a scan it is only possible with DVB-S now.

In my TvServer mgmt console under TVServers->VistaPC->Cards all cards are listed, but if I go step deeper, only 4 DVB-S DTV is to be seen. So scan is only possible for DVB-S, no option for DVB-T nor Analog.

Any Idea?

You may have to delete the TVServer database, adding cards onto existing setups have been known to do this, most probably the easiest way to do this is to update to a svn, and on the uninstall of TVServer select yes to delete settings.
