It seems they now seem to have cleaned up their download page and got rid of all the hacked psisdecd.dll files (including ours), Ill try and find somewhere to relocate it to.

Ive just thrown it up on my webspace now, its not worth trying to hide it somewhere. If 'they' dont like it, Ill remove it.

lol, this is gonna be another of my silly questions, but I downloaded the patch, and extracted it to c:\dvbpatch, then ran the bat file.

But when I look in dxdiag it still shows the old version numbers?

So I edited the bat file to remove the \s (silent install) and watch as it notified me of two successful uninstalls and two successful installs, went into dxdiag again and surprise still got the old files regestered.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm away from home at the moment, so can't check for sure, but this may be normal behaviour.
Since the files are for MCE and in all their wisdom MS never released a patch for XP the files need to run in tandem. If you try to remove or replace the old files then Windows file protection will detect and restore them. I guess the best way to see if the patch worked is to try and use two cards at the same time.

It's surprising that Ms releases so many updates so often but this one, that fixes a known bug and has been tested so well has never made it as an update for XP. I figure this has nothing to do with the fact that they are effectively killing any chance of competitors software being able to run with more tuner cards than their app...

or does it? bwahahahahahahahahahaaaa

Would be good if you could check, if they do run in tandem how does MP know which set to use?

I am not sure if it is necessary, but did you do a reboot after running the bat file?

Yes, you can check the mpeg2data.ax file with Radlight Filter manager - it is called “MPEG-2 Sections & Tables”, and it should show the new version details.

Alternately, I used the following steps to update these files:-

a. Reboot into Safe Mode
i. As the computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8.
ii. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Safe Mode option, and then press ENTER.

a. Update PsisDecd.dll and mpeg2data.ax (to version 6.5.2710.2732) :
i. From C:\Windows search for PsisDecd.dll - should be in \Windows\Driver Cache\i386
ii. Rename the original file by adding “.old” to the end of the name
iii. Copy PsisDecd.dll file to the directory where the original was stored.
iv. From C:\Windows search for mpeg2data.ax - should be in \Windows\ System32
v. Rename the original file by adding “.old” to the end of the name
vi. Copy mpeg2data.ax file to the directory where the original was stored.
vii. Register – from a Command prompt, execute regsvr32 mpeg2data.ax
viii. Check with Radlight (called “MPEG-2 Sections & Tables”)

b. Reboot into normal mode

Which worked fine for me....
