There is also a USB patch that others have suggested when using the Nova-T 500

Here is the thread:
Nova-T 500 stutters

And here is the MS fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918005/en-us

Not installed this myself, but i think i need to re-build my MP box as it is doing freaky things (like MP eating almost 900MB then dieing).

Hi all
After spending the last couple of days trying to make this patch work,I'm admitting defeat and need your help.I managed to update the mpeg2data.ax file as per Tapien's instructions, but when I try to rename the PsisDecd.dll file it does not give me the option of renaming it.All it allows me to do is "move" or "extract" the file.I have 2 tuners installed-either one works fine independantly but not together.I'm useing XP with all the updates required. Also my mate hase just loaded MP on his HTPC running MCE RU2 and he cannot get his two tuners to work either!I'm obviously doing something wrong but I just can't work it out.Any help would be very welcome
Thanks

You should be able to (slowly) double-click on the file name and then edit it directly?

Or you could move it to another (temporary) directory. I only suggested this step in case you need to revert back to the original files.

I have done as instructed but when i go to all programes>Accessories>System tools>Sysytem information>tools>Directx diagnostic tool. it still says that PsisDecd.dll is version 6.05.2600 it should be 6.05.2710 the one i replaced in C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386 are still 0.05.2710 , so winodws hasnt replaced them.

ps i did register by running "regsvr32 mpeg2data.ax"

After a reinstall this weekend, had stuttering on my T500, found the cure by doing a search on google, which states use the latest AMD driver, not the WDM one, something to do with not liking usb devices when idling, installed and immediately problem went.

Now as my setup worked flawlessly over Xmas and New Year (only had T500 a month) with my usual full set of software installed ( remember this is a family pc as well used for business and gaming), because of not installing all my usual programs until MP was working ok, ie antivirus, antispyware etc, there were no background tasks running on my new installation, and that actually caused a problem with my AMD processor.

BTW also found Nero incd (version 5.0.0.2) interfered with Standby\Hibernate, removed and now find i can use hibernate for recording (not Standby) ok.

Hopefully someone may find the above usefull, still very tempted to change from usb devices, over to pci versions for better stability, even my wireless networking which uses usb dongles which overheat and drop out after a couple of hours, but that's another storey.

How is this done?? I managed to install it as per instruction but i'm not sure what this line refers to!!

Do I need to 'CD..' to a different directory?or can or can the files be run from the CMD line??

I rebooted after installation and the file names had changed in the Direct X diag tool, but when i tried to play tv I just got a dialog box saying 'graph faled to start' so i click ok and it says 'can't connect to mpeg2 pin' (i think)!!

Same problem as everyone else other wise both cards work seperatly but together its a no go!!

I even get the same problem in the tv server, so once its solve for the non server maybe I can carry the fix into the server usage??

You need to open a command window in the directory where you put the new mpeg2data.ax file, or from a command prompt, CD to that directory and then execute regsvr32 mpeg2data.ax. You should get a message that the registration was successful.

I assume you mean here that the version numbers had changed - the file name should NOT change!

That sounds like a different problem altogether, as this patch is only required for the v2 TV engine. The v3 TV engine does not use the Microsoft Stream Buffer Engine, so this patch is not required.
