Sorry, may have replied too quickly on this one. The first one worked, but since then everytime I try to get IMDB info, it stops in the middle of the download, cpu goes to 100% and MP memory usage skyrockets (500-700 Mb) until I have to kill the thread.

Its just a bit super-cack the way it took me a couple of hours to scan my music dir, and after, all the album artwork looks smeg.

Code to fix it? I guess it works.. but i think ill go back to using my xbox and xbmc for now, no hassle.

the only reason i wanted to use this mediaportal is so i could watch hd movies. which run beautifully, but ironically, a folde rof 200items with reasonably high quality folder.jpg's in them is more strenuous for the program to handle! :p

evident in the scroll speed and general displaying of the thumbs.
i hate to think what the speed would be like it mediaportal was actually displaying the high-res thumbs :p

im just frustrated how slow it is, i run all my media off usb2.0 drives connected to a dedicated remote computer, still it chugs.

dont honestly know if i can be bothered to try and tweak this to get it nice running.. it takes ages to make a change within the app, and sometimes it has such trouble changing, a skin for instance that it just dies.

my machine is good, dualcore, 3ghz, 256 nvidia geforce card, 1gb ram.

i appreciate the crazy amount of hours that must have gone into making this software, but i just find it frustrating to use. the still shots look lovely, reflections, high res art. in practice i just find it to be clunky.

I have no trouble or hangups, with good albumart or pictures....
Are you running the newest MP version?

And what is the access/startup times of those USB 2.0 drives? external USB drives are really not the way to go when making a server setup imo...

P.S: comments are fine, even negative ones, but dont just say things are bad without giving more info about your problem.
Ans since you just posted your first post, maybe give it some more time to setup correctly.

Hi,
Not any problems here with latest MP +SVN & scrolling several hundred Albums, i use the artist view(all music files are in db) & the files are on a network folder (around 50 000 songs).
The speed here it's great when scrolling, no lag @ all.

Regards
Roy

I also had the same problem, the only way i could fix it was to go through all 200+ movies and download hi-res images for each, stick them in the corresponding folder and then make them read only so MP didn't try to adjust them again.

It was a right royal pain but once you've done it once, you won't need to again, and any additions don't take long.

Thanks
Jacko
