Hi

First post here from a complete newbie. Shame it has to be about as Media Portal rocks imo. 8)

I'm having difficulty getting the lists (Artist, Album, Genre etc) to work in My Music. A list shows but with no text. Drilling into an Artist shows another list of directories with no text. If I drill into the Album then I do see the tracks.

I originally had the problem with v0.1.3 but I could do a scan of My Music share to sort it out. Digging around the forum I noticed that many people have had an issue around this but 0.2RC2 handled things much better. So I went ahead with the upgrade. Things have got worse. I've rebuilt the database but still don't see anything of use in My Music.

I had a look in Program Files and found the music database and the database explorer app. I work with dbs in my day job so thought I'd have a dig around and the datatbase appears to be populated correctly. SQL statements across the album, artist and tracks yields the results I would expect so I guess it has something to do with MP not displaying or reading the db correctly.

Below is a cut of the log from when I start looking at My Music. There are quite a few null refrerence exceptions in there.

Please help sort this out. My Music is why I've gone HTPC. I've reverted back to 0.1.3 but would like to have the latest and greatest. The features in 0.2 (mainly CD ripping) will help keep my wife on board

Cheers
John

Try deleting music db and resetting the default folder for music to say My Music (which is mine) in setup and see if that pulls all the info in. found when using setup scan it shows 2717 mp3's but they don't appear in MP,
but they do this way. PS always use Blue Two Skin for latest cvs as it is updated first.

Deleted the music db. Still no good.

I'm pretty sure the db isn't not the problem. I'm displaying the correct number of albums, just no text to go with them or with the artists (the tracks are ok). I can also browse the data in the db via the SQL Lite Database Browser and all looks good.

My amateur reading of the log when I click on My Music leads me to believe that it's a gui problem. All those null references.

OK as above but don't go too far towards newer cvs as Directx9 required and usually onboard graphics do not support. Pre software support removed is the one to go for look for the date and go back a cvs or two.

But that's for another thread at another time.
