Default PVR-500 Not Recording or timeshifting

Hello everyone, i've been trying to get my PVR-500MCE to record on media portal but it isn't gong too well. I can view TV (the image quality is a little low), but when i try to record the recording indicator comes up but it doesn't create a file and it no longer shows a video image. When i stop recording the TV turns off, but i can turn it on. If i try to time shift the tv turns off and i'm unable to turn it back on until i restart MP. I tried WINTV2000 and it does record and i am able to view the mpeg files.
i'm also running MP using the administrator account.

Thank you to anyone who can help

Attached are all of the MP logs

Thanks again
