| I have just bought a new tv. And I want to install a HTPC with it. Though for the moment I am a little short on cash  But I do have an existing pc in the room next to our living room. So what I would like to do for the time being is use this pc for installing the mediaportal software on. That way I will have everything except the option for capturing tv on the HD. But that doesn't bother me. It will at least allow me to play music though the surround, show pictures and watch movies and go on the net. Now I have this one little problem. I don't like wires 8) I know of the existence of a marmitek x10 RF pc controller with built in mouse. So thats not the problem. The problem is getting my pcs video out signal to the tv's DVI port. Is there any hardware that lets me do this. I am not looking for something that comes with a built in media center of its own as most of the time they are very limited. All I want is a wireless replacement of the cable that should go from my PC to my TV as if I would use the tv as a pc monitor. (and it has to go though a wall) All info is welcome. Nirious |

| I my opinion the best setup is to use a GOOD S-VIDEO cabel, and as you write the pc is in the next room so 1 x 10mm hole should do the trick. All the RF senders / recievers I have seen gives you a fuzzu picture - and thats NOT what you want ... I guess. A decent 5m S-VIDEO cable will have zero (or almost to zero loss of signal)!

Country: | Pingus is right, I have an 18 ft Svideo cable from my PC to the TV and its great. Video senders generally cause a degradation in signal and can cause issues with other wireless devices in the house depending on the frequencies they use. I had enough problems with my 2.4 GHz cordless phone and my domestic wireless network. |

| I use this one: Marmitek X10 PC controller with implemented mouse. http://www.intellihome.be/english/st...g=index&menu=7 Anyway. I have a VGA input in my lcd tv, so I have no need to use a s-video or scart cable. The question is, is there a VGA cable out there that is long enough? |

| Hi, the length of the cable isn't really the problem. You can get VGA-Cables easily up to 15 meters. Just search ebay and you will find a cable that fits our needs. The real problem is your wall. With a hole of 1x10mm you can't get the VGA-Cable through it because of the connector. So you have to make a little bit bigger hole or you remove the connector from the cable. After you get the cable through the wall you have to solder the connector to the cable. If you're really good in soldering connectors to cables then you can do the second possibility. Otherwise it's better to make a bigger hole. |
