Default QAM Tuners

What QAM tuner cards work with MediaPortal? I have been searching the forums, but I can't find a list of what will/won't work.

Any recommendation on QAM tuner cards would be great. Thanks!

I take it you mean DVB tuners?

The Wiki have information on which DVB-T/S/C card are supported.

Is that what I would need to get digital cable in HD?

I have cable from Insight, is anyone using a digital tuner with this company?

What about something like the myHD card?
http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/hdtv-cards.html#myhd

This card says it receives QAM signals, but it doesn't say it's a DVB-C card. Is this different somehow?

Thanks!

ATSC is like the US only version of DVB.

I don't know anything about the US cable system, so i don't know if you will be able to get digital cable into your PC.

Sorry i can't be more help.

QAM is the modulation of the signal, for example dvb-t in the uk is broadcast on qam-16 and qam-64. IE 16 si=ymbols and 64 symbols. You really only need to pay attention to what type of dvb signal you get in your area

In the US, some new HDTVs have "QAM" tuners (which I think means that it can view unencrypted 64-QAM and 256-QAM signals over cable).

Do these DVB-C cards, which are not meant for use in the US, support viewing of these signals? I posted a link earlier that does claim to have a QAM tuner, but:

1. Will this card be supported by MediaPortal?
2. I would like to have some choice in buying a TV card, so thats why I am interested in knowing if the DVB-C cards will work in the US for HD signals.

Here is another card I found:

I am sure that I am not the only one wondering this in the US. I appreciate the comments so far! Thanks!

I actually just came upon the Dvico FusionHDTV5 QAM HD tuner. Is this supported in MediaPortal?

Not specifically but I have added basic BDA QAM support in MediaPortal but I don't know if it works yet...
If you're on the look-out for cards which definately do then the HVR-1600/1800 from Hauppauge now works under XP & Vista.
