That issue is known and related to this one (although at first sight you might think it's not the same, but it is): http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=756
Happens for TV and MPEG movies.

It's being worked on. Until it's fixed you can't do anything to avoid it, sorry.

Your 2nd question gets answered here: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=2766

Working on it. Nice to know its being worked on. Kind of would be a perect HTPC if i could view all my media without it crashing and bring the whole pc down with it. I have to run in windowed mode as if its infulscreen i can't do nothing but cold reboot to fix it :0

MP should have a template built in that prints a config file of all the codecs and stuff automaticly so it has the real info and not somthig a dumbarse like me might type in and be WRONG. That happens abit with me

Thanks for the info. I hope the Quartz.dll thhing is worked out. Is it a hard problem or easy. Would be nice if a file could not be played it did not crash and just moved onto the next one and so on. Funny thing is thats how VLC or any other program handles files like that.

See ya.

Looks like it's no easy one. Your files are surely ok, so you don't have issues with other players playing them. We can't tell more atm, cause we don't know any more on that problem yet. Could take a while.

I also use BTV4, and in their forum they say that you should replace the quartz.dll file. They say that the current version of the file is "broken" and MS won't fix it.

Here's a link to the replacement quartz.dll file, if anyone wants to try it.

quartz.zip

You should boot into safe mode and replace every copy of the file on your computer. I did a search and found several.

I believe it is actually an "old" version.

First, I just rebuilt my Media Portal system and have not reinstalled MP yet. So I don't exactly know how it will affect MP.

In my Beyond TV 4 box, I had problems with video overlay and deinterlaciing. This version of quartz is suppose to correct that. I did many changes to get BTV4 to show a smooth picture, so I can't say if this is a "magic pill" or not.

Make sure you rename and save the original quartz file, in another directory, so you can re-install it if needed.

If you search the Snapstream Troubleshooting and Support forums under Beyond TV and Beyond TV link for quartz.dll, you'll get alot of hits.

Here's one that I found:

http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=20944

It's kind of old, but info never gets old.
