Default REAL blocky picture with 150MCE

Using an s-video connection from a satellite stb, the picture on live tv is really blocky. So blocky, I can't make out facial features. I installed WinTV2000 & I can't select the s-video input. If I unplug the s-video & go straight to the tv, the picture is fine.
I ran hcwclear & installed the latest drivers, but no help.
What should I look for?
Thanks.

Hi,

take a look into the Bitrate settings. Sounds like it is set to low. You can use the Hauppauge Tweak Tool to check it.

Check the quality control settings in MP config. I had exactly this "problem".

Just uncheck it at all and try once.

The default settings was like 300 or something for me, which is rather low.

I tried the quality control settings but that didn't help. The Tweaktool did, though. Thanks FlipGer.
It was set at 100. What's a good setting? I set it at 1000, but I think that's too much.

Hi,

no 1000 ist to low.

Depends on what quality you want to get. And what file size will results from that.

VBR 2000 (average) / 4000 (peak) is like VHS ~ 1.5 GB /hour
VBR 7000 (average) / 9000 (peak) is DVD ~ 4 GB / hour

HTH, Flip.
