This is great that you have pinpointed the problem - you just need to get someone to verify and then send it on to the test group!

Maybe muty can verify this, what does your log say when you try to record?

@j1nx Your log doesn't list any errors ?

No i tried it in any possible way to reproduce the errors but it always works? Never any problems occurs.

I can change the recording folder all over my network, but no problems.

But if recordings work and timeshifting not, is your card1 directory created in the recordings share? Recordings are placed directly into the recording directory, timeshifting file is actually created in the recording/card1 directory. (change the number if you have more cards)

The folder is created correctly.
maybe there's a problem with its rights.
I'll have a look on this.

Btw: which version of mp do you use?

edit:

Gave the folder and its subdirectories all rights
but nothing changed.

Tried a tricky solution: set ts buffer to 0 minutes (should imo deactivate ts) but again no success.

Version of MP is 0.2 RC4 (with a snapshot of 5-5-2006, but i always try to use the latest snapshot)

Who own your card1 folder? Is it the user it should be? Is your MP machine configured for the same workgroup name as the samba server? Is your MP machine username exactly the same as your samba username (incl. capitols). Just a couple of quick ideas!

I still browsing through the source code, but i'm a VB programmer, not a C# one.

The less minute trick of the TS file was also crossing my mind this day, but apparently that also doesn't work.

Which TV-Card are you using?

As mentioned the card1 folder got in the meantime every possible right
and belongs to flo as it should.

Usernames are set up correctly.

I'm using technisat's skystar2 for watching/recording TV.

I hope muty gets the time to check his log as
I'm pretty interested if he's getting the same error messages as I do.

Ok, fist of all: thx for your help so far :!:

@j1nx:

I am, don't worry
Problem is to find more things to try.
Still two options:
* windows reinstall (the word is that this is sometimes the only option concerning the use of windows )
* Technisat has released some new drivers a while ago,
will crosscheck the old ones

@tourettes:

I'm able to check how much space is left/used via explorer.
It shouldn't really be a "space" problem as I'm able to record on that folder.
Hm, where did your post go?

Just another thing to check. Do you have "advanced network pack" installed from MS? Because i have.

You can check this i think by typing the "netsh" command in a cmd window. (netsh is only available in the Advanced Network Pack) If you get a netsh> prompt you have it otherwise not. But i'm not sure if the netsh was the package which was only available in the advanced network pack

Ok i managed to produce the error, by using not the drive letter but a direct link (not "G:" but "\\server")

Quote:
5/9/2006 10:11:16 PM Recorder: failed to start timeshifting since drive \: has less then 1GB freediskspace
5/9/2006 10:11:16 PM Command:MediaPortal.TV.Recording.TimeShiftTvComman d failed reason:Not enough free diskspace time:15.625 msec
So the kind of mounting is i think the issue.

EDIT:
Yup, same directory/share but mounted as a drive and it works like a charm.
