Default Running slow... Jittering

I am running a 64 bit Athlon, 1gb RAM, GeForce 4200 Ti video card, and a Hauppauge 150 MCE tv card.

I finally got my TV guide xml going, and started using Media Portal, but this thing is running SLOW! I mean really slow! As soon as I start dealing with live TV, or the TV guide, this thing starts creeping along like a zombie. If you so much as move the mouse when the TV feed is running, the video studders for up to a minute, and the audio occasionally keeps streaming, but other times cuts out completely.

Any ideas? Is this normal? I don't think it is, or not many people would us media portal. By the way, my TV tuner card has a priority setting of 10. If there is anything else you need to know, just ask. Also, if there is a link that already specifically addresses this, I couldn't find it, so just paste a link to it, if you know of one
