My PVR/HTPC is a single-seat configuration, and I'm using TVE3 with the tv server. Now, it's sitting in my living room, connecting to the internet with a wireless connection to my wireless router in another room on the other side of the house. It's an older house so there are concrete walls in between the living room and the office. Now, it can get a signal normally, but let's say someone goes to the bathroom during a show, and they walk right through this invisible signal that goes from the pvr to the router, and for that second the wireless signal is interrupted.

So I'm sitting there watching LOST live on tv, and my fiancee' gets up and goes to the bathroom. She comes back, and "My TV" goes away and up pops this window that says "Connected to database, unable to connect to server". Now I would understand this if the server was in another room of the house or something. But the server IS the client. It doesn't let me reconnect to the tv server until the network connection is restored. It is very very frustrating to watch tv let me tell you. So after the 4th time this happened while trying to watch LOST, I finally typed in localhost as the server address. It worked, but I got kicked any time the network connection was interrupted still. It would take me back to that tv server screen where I would just click "done" and it would take me back in to the My TV area until the next time the wireless connection dropped.

Now, my question is, is there a way to stop this from happening on a single-seat configuration?? My network connection should have nothing to do with the connection between two pieces of software on the same machine.

Update: I'm using the SVN from 3-30-07. I'm realizing now that I probably should have put this post in the TV Engine support forum. Can any admins reading this move it for me?

I have had exactly same problem couple of times. But it happens even without anyone moving around. WLAN just fails and comes back after 30 sec.

I have even posted: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/tv...rs-t22354.html

I have now disabled WLAN, but of course this is not final solution. If there isn't any other way, then I have to have cable all the way across my flat.

One idea I just got: What if I configure the network card (on the motherboard) to have fixed IP-address, but not connected to anywhere. Would MP still think there is a network connection when WLAN fails? Have to test this today...

Well you can configure your LAN card to have a fixed IP address but since it's not connected, it will still register as disconnected. Give "localhost" or 127.0.0.1 a shot for when you launch the MP client and try to connect. See if you get disconnects.

Well, yeah. That came to my mind later also. So I'm planning to connect my external harddrive (with LAN-connection) to the LAN card.
But it's a bit difficult to verify, as my WLAN connection doesn't break even every day.
