Default Slow channel switching

Hi,

I already looked around the Mediaportal forums, but could not find a good answer. I have been using Mediaportal for quite some time, and I really like how it works an how you can make it your own with plugins etc.

But now I have recently moved to Vista Mediacenter, just because the channel switching in MediaPortal is tooo slow! Is there anything I can do about it? or will there be any updates that wil fix this?

Stefan

You probably didn't search for 'slow' restricting the search to only search in titles. Just 2 days I've posted the same:

Channel switching too slow, client/server architecture problem?

Only few qualified people can answer such questions, I don't have much luck getting anwers these days, I can study the code but that's very difficult.

I have used the standard codecs that get installed when installing Mediaportal, and I have used FFDSHOW, also I used a tool to check all my codecs (filmerit) and this tool said all was ok..

Ok, sounds good. Normaly slow channel swtiching comes from to much codec install, via Powerdvd, Nero, etc.

Exclamation Still slow in RC4?

Hi!

It's been a while since I have been on the Mediaportal site, and still running Windows Vista Mediacenter, but I am eager to get back to MediaPortal.... Is there any development on the slow channel switching?

Thanks

Stefan

Maybe you can say what you consider slow?
On my setup channel change needs about 2 seconds.

Default slow channel switching

Slow is 5-7 seconds per channel (I have a FireDTV DVB-C card without encryption (not needed)).

That is definetly slow.
I'm having a similar setup (FloppyDTV DVB-C with encryption) and switching needs between 1,5 and two seconds even on encrypted channels.
