Is this the clue to your problems? I assume that you mean that your TV reception is marginal, or poor?

DVB-T cards (in my experience) have a lower RF sensitivity than Digital STBs, so unless you have a good strong TV signal, then you will have trouble with your DVB-T card.

It may also be helpful if you publish your MediaPortal.log here - particularly the section that relates to changing channels - that may give us a clue to the cause?

Yep, I'd concur with that. My TV (Sony widescreen with integrated digital tuner) is less sensitive to impulse noise in the RF signal than the FusionHTDV DVB-T card I have in my HTPC. I find that the TV will actually render corrupt MPEG frames until the next clean keyframe, while the DVB card just drops everything until it gets a clean keyframe, which causes much more visible interruption to the picture. Visibly, it's like watching a DVD or DivX on a machine with insufficient CPU -- the picture stalls and skips while the audio continues uninterrupted.

I'm actually going to get my house antenna rewired using quad-shielded RG-6 rather than normal 75 ohm RG-58, since it's far more immune to local impulse noise. Also, beware of using a masthead amplifier to receive a DVB-T signal.. check out this link for the gory details.

Basically it seems I'm screwed! The signal is so poor the aerial has to have an amplifier to get tv at all. If this is the problem them my card will not work with any software it seems.

Not necessarily - a mast-head amplifier can help improve the signal level of weak channels, but it can also overload the tuner with strong channels.

Does it also not work with the application software suppled with the DVB-T card - in other words, you have not been able to get this card to work with anything?

If it doesn't work reliably with its own application, then it definitely won't work with MediaPortal...

The reason I wanted to try Media Portal was that I have had great difficulty in getting the Showshifter password to work , also when I upgrade to the next version I have to uninstall my HP scanner and software as Showshifter admit it can screw this up due to some sort of conflict with Net1.1

Based on the above, and assuming that you're now using the 9600, the first thing that you should do is select VMR9 Renderless as your video renderer, you can do this by in the GUI or Configuration. The same can/should be done for your movie & DVD playback also.

Its not necessarily going to offer a solution to your performance issues but will ensure that MP is able to take full advantage of your graphic card's features during playback.

I don't understand what is happening, but if you look at this line in your log:-

MP then seems to be changing channels about every second. Here are the next few similar lines:-

It seems that MP is unable to find a suitable signal, and so it tries the next channel? Is that possible? It just doesn't make sense to me.... :?

Have you been able to get your Vbox type DTT150 DVB-T card to work correctly with its own supplied TV application, or with any other TV software at all?

Maybe is Peter can describe what he was doing - from the log, it looks like the channel is being changed by the user on the TV Home screen. Peter, were you just flicking through the channels?

According to the log, like Taipan said, the channels were being changed about every second, but there was one or two that took about 30seconds - was that because you watched a particular channel for a bit longer before trying the next one? Or were youe pretty much changing channels as soon as you got a picture?
