Question Some of my video files won't play!

TV-Server Version:
MediaPortal Version: 1.0 RC2
MediaPortal Skin: Blue Wide
Windows Version: Vista Ultimate SP1
CPU Type: Intel E6550 2.33Ghz
HDD: Samsung 2.5"
Memory: 2gb
Motherboard:
Video Card: Ati 2400Pro
Video Card Driver: Catalyst 8.7

MPEG2 Video Codec: ffdshow
MPEG2 Audio Codec: ffdshow
h.264 Video Codec: CoreAVC
Satelite/CableTV Provider:
HTPC Case: Antec Fustion Black
Cooling: Ninja Mini
Power Supply:
Remote: Streamzap
TV: Samsung 40M87
TV - HTPC Connection: dvi->hdmi

Some of my videofiles just don't play and I can't make out a pattern either, all I know is that all my x264 files are working. I've tried a clean install more than one time. As of this I'm running the latest versions of ffdshow tryouts, Haali, xvid (and coreavc for x264), I've tried different combination back and forth. I've also tried DivX, still not working. All files works just fine in mpc. In MP it just blink then I'm back at the filechooser screen. Some files of every codec I have are working, to find a pattern is impossible. Please help!

Welcome on the forums.

Sounds like codec issues. Some experts on this forum referred to it as windows codec hell

I would suggest the following as a first try:
1. uninstall xvid, divx, ffdshow.
2. Run filmerit to scan for errors.
3. If found
3a. unlock
3b. fix errors
3c. close filmerit
3d. start with point 2 again
4. follow goose's codec guide

Good luck, and remember to report back.
