| One of the reasons I moved to a HTPC, was that others with 2.35 constant height screen setups find it easier to scale the image using a HTPC versus a DVD player and/or projector. Anyway, when I was testing MediaPortal on another computer, I was able to use the stretch feature when watching 2.35 movies. This would verticaly stretch the image and reclaim the lost pixels taken up by black bars, making the images look skinny. This is what you want, then you take your anamorphic lens and horizontally stretch the image back out to fill the 2.35 screen with no black bars. For some reason since I've hooked everything up to my LCD 720 Sanyo Z2 which is a 16:9 projector, the stretch feature does nothing. 2.35 movies stay the same? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. So far I'm very very happy with the performance of MediaPortal, everything is working great, I just need to figure out how to stretch the 2.35 movies vertically? Any ideas, any other contant height users out there? I know TheaterTek will allow you to adjust the image for various aspect ratios. |

| My 6600GT card is sending a 1280 x 720 60hz resolution to my Z2, which is a 1:1 match. I know that Theatertek offers custom aspect ratios where you can provided the needed stretch vertically, to reclaim the panels taken up by black bars. Then when you introduce the anamorphic lens, the image is stretched out to fill your 2.35 screen. You can read AVS's forum on this subject if you need more background. My question is that is there anyway to achieve this needed scaling of the image with MediaPortal as is, or do I need FFDShow and/or another external DVD player like TheaterTek to achieve this requirment for a Constant Height Cinemascope setup? |

Country: | hmmm strange i have never seen the stretch or Zoom function in media portal not actually fill the screen , i initially thought maybe ffdshow is over writing it or something but it sounds like your not using ffdshow yet. Cause in theory your setup should basically fill the screen perfectly when media portal is on Normal when watching DVDS with a ratio of 1.85:1 and whenever you watch a DVD with ratio of 2.35:1 you should just need to press S and change it to Stretch and it should fill the screen nicely again. This problem is out of my reach , need someone with more brain power than me or someone with a similar setup and problem. Sorry dude |

| Not a problem man, I appreciate you replying. The way you describe the stretch and/or zoom is exactly how it worked on my older computer using a standard LCD monitor. With my Sanyo projector fed via HDMI from my 6600GT card, nothing happens. When watching 2.35 movies I can't get rid of the black bars. hmmmm I really like MediaPortal, I hope someone else has ideas why it appears the resolution is locked? Randy |

Country: | 16:9 material is stored as 1:1.78 on DVD, so 1:2.35 material has black bars. MP does not remove black bars, use ffdshow postprocessing for such.

| I understand AR's. So if what your saying is true, then why does the stretch feature work on a standard computer watching 2.35 movies. The zoom feature is also not working on my HTPC/Projector setup, so there must be something else going on. |
