| Area: Media Portal Program MediaPortal Version: 0.2.0.0 RC4 (2006-04-18) MediaPortal Skin: BlueTwo Windows Version: Windows XP (SP2) .NET CLR Version: 2.0.50727 DirectX Version: 4.09.00.0904 (9.0c) Audio Codec: MPEG/AC3/DTS/LPCM Audio Decoder Video Codec: Mpeg2Dec Filter CPU Type: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Memory: 511 MB Motherboard: K7VT4APro TV Card Model: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1100 TV Card Type: - TV Card Driver: - Video Card Model: - Video Card Driver: - Video Card Resolution: 1280x1024 Video Render Type: - Audio Card Model: C-Media AC97 Audio Device Audio Card Driver: - Synopsis:: When i watch tv without the timeshift turned on, the picture runs perfectly, but when i turn it on the picture is fairly smooth, but it sounds like the sound is in slow motion and with echo. Very weel i thought, then i just have to use it without the timeshifting, but when i record tv, timeshifting gets turned on automatically and the weird sound starts again. When i try to watch the recorded tv the weird sound is also there, but if try to watch the clip on another computer (athlon 64 3200+) there is nothing wrong with the clip. When i bought my tv tuner i checked the requirements, and it says igital TV (DVB-T) reception and recording: PC with 1.5 GHz processor (min. recommended), and i am sure im recording DVBT tv.So i have a few questions: What is timeshifting? Why does timeshifting have to be turned on while recording? My 1800+ should do the job? |

I guess timeshifting turns on when recording because recording is actually timeshifting, the only difference is that when recording you dont wrap around and re-record at the beginning of the recording buffer. Im not sure a 1800+ is enough, i guess it depends on your de-interlacing options / codec combinations as well as how much of this is offloaded to the CPU. Try to run MP windowed and check the task manager to see if the CPU usage at any points look like its getting close to 100%. Personally i use an A64 3000+ and in short periods it can show quite alot of CPU usage. Try playing the recording back on the MP PC, but use another program such as WMP and see if it stutters.

| When i first tried to watch the cpu usage, it came fairly close to 100%, about 90% -+ 5. At that point i had the following: Video Codec: Mpeg2dec filter - Audio codec: mpeg/ac3/dts/mpcm decoder - Audio renderer: Directsound wave device. Then i tried to change it to the following: Video Codec: Mpeg2dec filter - Audio codec: Dscaler Audio decoder - Audio renderer: C-Media wave device. And then the cpu usage was at 65% -+ 5, with some very small peaks on 90%. And in both cases the problem was present. And i tried to play the clip in another player, but it still stutters. My Video card is a Geforce 4 Ti4200. |

If you are convinced its not the CPU usage thats the problem and if you get stuttering in recordings even when not watching at the same time, i would try to download MyTheatre ( www.dvbcore.com ) and try to watch/record using that to see if you get the same problem. MyTheatre continously displays signal quality and strength which is something you should also keep an eye on.
