I am far from being a specialist so could you please tell me, what does RTSP mean?
And, do you use your 780G based system only as tv-server or does it also run the client? In my case, it is a single seat configuration. Checking the recording with mediaplayer is a good idea, I will try this also.
Looking forward for new findings and good luck with your system,

Hi Manuelito,
no I did not try (at least not systematically) other codecs. I thought the MP build-in things would be best tested and most compatible. Did you solve similar problems by installing other codecs?

is it possible for you to fit another hdd just for testing and place the ts folders on that, it solved a lot of my erratic tv problems

I have an ATI 3450 with HDMI output and to many problems with drivers (for example, I have to disable the audio effects of the skin if I want the menu navigation is smooth). In my case, on the recommendation of another user, i use ffdshow as a decoder (using the library mp3lib instead of libmad) for the MP2 format of the TV and device Realtek HDMI Output instead of DirectSound, stuttering much reduced (although only completely eliminated by using exclusive mode). You may not have any connection but you never know.

and I see that you are already a DONATOR..

Since you have a motherboard manufactured by Asus: If you have installed Asus splendid (if they still deliver this shitty software) - try uninstalling it. I remember that is casued some strange side effects for a friend of mine.

Just tried a short recording and played the .ts-file with VLC player. It is even worse then in MP, instead of stuttering there are big funny colored squares, audio and video is totally unusable. Isn't this a clear indicator, that something goes wrong with the tv-server?

For minimum power consumption I currently have installed only a single hd for the system and the data and would like to keep it this way. However, just plugged in an external USB-Disk and configured the tv-server to place recordings and timeshift-files there. and: at first sight this seems to work much better (or even flicker-free???) !!!
I will observe this, in the meantime, I would like to ask the knowing guys: is it really required to have separate hard disks for the software and for the data? As mentioned above, I would really like to have only a single hd.

UPDATE: unfortunately it is back again (using the external usb-drive for timeshift), strange behavior ... sometimes, everything seems fine, sometimes it's bad again ... might dvb-s signal quality (57%, signal level 100%) be an issue???

Just to join conversation, and confirm that i have exactly the same issues (stuttering, 'colored squares'...).

Using MediaPortal 1.0.2, SS2 with 4.5.0 drivers, MB MSI intel 945, CPU Celeron 420...

I'm using codecs with DXVA so i think CPU speed is not an issue (doesn't have such issues in AltDBV or DVBDream).

Hi winstonc69,
could you tell us, how you figured out the cpu as the problem? Don't know, how to test these things, I used to by only one CPU, one pair of RAM and also only a single mainboard - no friends around having the same components to test by replacing ...
Happy CPU-shopping,
thecubist

I just switched to old TVE2 and picture is perfect, without any stuttering! Just, TVE2 doesn't support h24 :| So, suppose there is some issue with TVE3 and some hardware/software combinations...

@Spragleknas: I did not install a asus software called splendid and also could not find it on the system ... thanks for the hint anyways ...

@cornholio123:
if I remember right, I had a 1.0.1 installation with integrated TVE2 running also without problems. since the TVE2 is going to be discontinued it's no long lasting option, but yes, this indicates a TV-server-problem on some platforms.

@ALL
I think, it must be the server, since the disturbances are also recorded. Isn't the data stream from the DVB-S-card directly recorded by the server and the codecs come into play first when playing the data? If so, the problems cannot be caused by the codecs. I think ...
