After copying some of my DVDs using DVDFab 5 and watching them in MP, all of the sudden subtitles are showing up and I can't turn them off. (They weren't there yesterday, and I haven't changed any settings in MP). I can turn subtitles on, and then I have two sets of subtitles, one on top of the other. Yellow text is on top of white text when I turn subtitles on in MP. How do I get rid of the white text subtitles? BTW, if I watch the movie using other software like Windows Media, no subtitles appear. Any help is much appreciated.

If anybody is having the same issues, what worked for me is that I went to MP config and chaned my video and audio decoders. Subtitles went away once I selected different ones.

Not sure if it'll work for you, but I turned 5.1 audio off in the MP setup and used Cyberlink video codecs. I didn't post my codecs because other users might not have the same ones. I need to double check to see if it was the codec that helped or turning off 5.1 audio. I'll check and post back later.

I have over 5 or 6 video codecs, including cyberlink. I've turned off 5.1, switched every codec , both audio and video around to every combination and I the subtitles are still there. I will agree with grubi, I do have a few of my dvds copied in whole have no subtitles, but 95% of my collection is just the "main body", and have the subtitles. Is there something in the movie folders I could go in and delete? Any help will be appreciated.

I will try to keep it short (what means that I don't go into detail what all these steps are about exactly). 1.) Download a tool from the internet called pgcEdit. 2.) Select the menu item "File -> Open DVD" 3.) Select the folder where your VIDEO_TS folder resides. 4.) On the left navigation box select the entry "VTST1,1" for a movie where you copied only the main title set. 5.) You should see a "pre command" (SetSTN) on the right window side. 6.) Double click that. 7.) In the new window you find a section labeled "Sub-picture" 8.) There select the radio button "set-to" and uncheck the checkbox labeled "on" 9.) Select OK. 10.) Now you sould see that the pre command(SetSTN) contains "Set sub-picture stream = 0, off". 11.) Select the menu item "File -> Save DVD" Done. HTH. grubi. | |

Your instructions are very good but I ran into a problem. I downloaded pgcEdit, followed your instructions, but when I got to the last step where you "save Dvd" I saw a quick message flash by from the program then the Microsoft message "encountere an error and must close" appeared the the program shut down. The program responded exactly as you described. I realize that the problem is with pgcEdit and my installtion of WinXP Professional. I had upgraded to service pact 3 and thought that might be the problem so I uninstalled sp3 and went back to sp2. There might be some I am doing wrong but up to the last step, every thing works like you said. I open the dvd folder, it scans the dvd, I close that window, then I follow the steps, the "save dvd" then the error. Thanks
