I just recently just upgraded from XP to Vista x64. MediaPortal was working just great until i made the move.. actually, i've had quite alot of trouble with vista x64 and Nvidia drivers BSOD stuff..

Anoways, the problem with mediaportal in Vista is

1. Volume sticking @ certain point, which is talked about in another thread, so wont chat about it here..

2. Power Management.

With my XP setup, i had the monitor turn off on the desktop after on idle for 10min and if Mediaportal was on idel in fullscreen in main menu (or just not in full screen video) off in 1min.. but if i was watching TV or so on, it wont turn my monitor to sleep.. which was great..

In vista x64, i have the default setup with high performance, so monitor turns off in 20min.. now with Media portal, the power management does whats it's ment to in the main menu and so on (with turning off the monitor in 1min), but while watching TV or Video, after 20min, my monitor goes to sleep, and the sound keeps on playing, i just have to push some buttons on the remote to get it back up and viewing..

Is this a bug with Nvidia Drivers/Vista/Mediaportal.. i have no idea, it's just becoming really annoying

That sounds more like a downgrade

Sorry but your problem is most likely not related to MP..

Overall, mediaportal is working much better with the TV card, in that channels switch in a split second, when in XP 32bit, it would take atlease 3 sec, then alot of stuttering for another 3 sec, then watchable..

All other aspects of mediaportal are now excellect, except the power management now.. i did that fix for the sound and it worked nicely..

I tried playing a movie in WMP 11 and the screen didn't goto sleep after 20min, ill try showtime and other players to find out if they do it as well

BTW.. i've managed to get vista stable now.. The nvidia 158.45 were unstable for me.. 160.04 are working nicely

Maybe that helps other users struggeling with nvidia's drivers as well.
Please report your experiences with other (preferably open source) software regarding screen blanking. Maybe there's something new we need to tell Vista

i couldnt get MP to work in vista so that it would have been usable

a) no channels found, tve3 just instantly flies thru the transponders (-c)
b) massive graphic bugs
c) every 'view' change resulted in my tv losing signal and getting it back soon after
d) overlay preview window didnt work at all
e) lots of bugs related to playback altho the hardware is more than adequate
