| Hello, I have problems to scan the QAM 256 channels. DVB-C The card scan per autotune the QAM256 channels and finds some channels, but not all (only 64QAM channels). I select the channels who found it in the channel list, the modulation was set to not set? Can the BDA driver scan QAM 256 or is the QAM256 not implement it? I have the mention it scans all modulations, but in the config file I set it to 256QAM. I used RC4 with the last SVN. Greetings Christof |

Country: | Christof, Can you try and explain this a little better? I know English is not your preferred language but it's not clear on what you mean. You may want to try MyTheatre as another BDA test application for your QAM256 channels. DMAN

| It seems that this QAM256 was a driver problem, try technotrend budget driver update from http://www.dvbshop.net/forum/modules...p=getit&lid=82 |

| Any news? I have a quite similar problem with that card now in MP: Stuttering on some channels!! .It worked fine in the past. Is it a driver problem, or MP, or a CAM problem??! Here the whole story: I had no problems in the past using TT budget 1500-C (DVB-C) in germany with Premiere and Kabel Deutschland when using 0.2.0.4 (stable) Recently I recognized some channels missing, I did a rescan, but they disappeared. I then did a clean install AND I moved to one of the latest SVNs. I found out that one has to manually edit the scan configuration file to scan symbolrate 6900 and QAM256. I wonder why that worked in the past and I asume that channels have changed here in german cable TV. (maybe they were QAM64 in the past). The rescan gave me all the missing channels, but when I try to watch them. I have stutter on approx half of the channels. I have not yet checked, but I guess it is the QAM256 channels which have a problem. The ones that I know to be QAM64 (Premiere e.g.) work fine. I wonder what is causing this. I downloaded the latest TT BDA driver, but to no luck. Even the original TT TV application stutters on these channels. I have a "antenna amplifier" which I could plug in and out, but makes no differents so it does not seem to be signal strength...!? I am using an alphacrypt light card. (V1.07), though it worked in the past. Might it be neccessary (and/or possible) to update the card?! Anyone any idea?! Thanks in advance!!

| Oh noooooo... !!! What to do now? Could you suggest a different tv card that works with MP and scambled channels in germany?! Has someone talked to Techntrend about this problem? They said on their website that QAM256 be supported by latest driver...! :-(

| Technotrend is somewhat ignorant in the problem with there driver. WDM dirver works for me. But only with the original software. The BDA-Driver never worked. My second card is a Digital Everywhere FloppyDTV. This one works. At the moment I have some problem in MP. I have dropouts once per minute. See quality assurance forum for this. But it seems to be MP related. MyTheatre with BDA-drivers works perfect with this card. |

Country: | Well I have not got a TT DVB-C but a KNC1 DVB-C card and have/had problems with the QAM256 channels as well. First I thought maybe the QAM256 channels do not get distributed in our area or these are some encrypted channels the card cannot tune to. Coincidently someone posted in another forum that he received channels of my cable provider, that I did not (QAM256 channels) so I got curious. He used a Terratec cinergy and he received all QAM64 and QAM256 channels whereas I only received the QAM64 ones. Note the Terratec card is more or less the same card as the KNC1. A friend of mine has an external receiver, that he could borrow me for one day, so I could check whether or not I could receive the QAM256 channels in my area. Connected the technisat receiver and I could receive all channels. With the KNC1 card I only got the QAM64 ones. I got even more curious. In our house we've got cable TV sockets in 4 rooms. Picked up my HTPC and connected it in another room and surprise the tuner found the channels in the frequency scan! My mother has a PC with a KNC1 DVB-C card as well using the native software and WDM drivers and she could not receive the cannels either. Then I got an idea what could be the cause - in our house there are some old and cheapo coax cables and instead of a 4 way coax splitter there is a 2way + 3 way splitter. Well this weekend I bought a very good coax cable and exchanged most of the old ones and I bought better cables to connect the PC of my mum’s PC to the cable TV socket. And surprise on my mum's PC I now can receive all channels QAM64+QAM256. It seems the external technisat receiver has got a higher reception sensibility than the KNC1 DVB-C card. Need some more tweaking for my cable connector and the cable network of our house, then I hope the QAM256 will work for my HTPC as well. So maybe for the TT users the QAM256 problem can be solved with better cables as well. Better cables have lower signal muting maybe some old cable TV/radio sockets/connectors should be exchanged by newer ones as well. So then the signal reaches the card with higher quality and the tuner can receive the QAM256 channels. |
