Thumbnails being resized to low-res

Is there anyway to keep the original image size for the thumbnail view? In the thumbs folder I can see that there are two different verisons of the image, one wich is scaled down to a very low resolution. It would be pain to have to change this manually, isn't there a way to keep the original size of the image in the thumbnail view?
